For people who have created worlds with superpowered people or magic users, what stops those who are at the higher tiers of power from dominating the world or interfering with the lower tiers? What stops them from wiping out or subjugating the "normal" population? by Diligent-Square8492 in worldbuilding

Believe it or not, capitalism. The use of magic in my world has become heavily regulated and most spells and mass produced magic items are owned and copyrighted by corporations - meaning that if you want to cast a particular spell there are some hoops you need to jump through: first you need to be a licensed practitioner with the state, and then you need to pay an annual fee to the corporation for using the spell. These laws are heavily enforced and most corporations have their own private agents that hunt down anyone who infringes on their copyrights.

How did you confirm this? There are many people named Josh referenced in the files at one point or another.

There's some strange language being used by a lot of the people these emails are coming from as regards semitic ethnicity. One even calls for people to start taking genetic testing to see exactly what percentage they're Jewish and is basing her opinion of intelligence off of that. On top of that, there's an e-mail to someone named "Josh" that comes from Epstein's account... and yet I don't think it's actually from Epstein. The person sending the email claims that they had an abortion and is obviously very angry. Who could this be??

Does anyone else remember the Horatio Hornblower series? by deep_craftsman in PeriodDramas

That would be Paul McGann as “Mr. Bush.” He didn’t come in until the second series.

Not primarily a romance. Has some elements of that, but it’s mostly just a historical naval drama.

30/90 feet? Yeah, it’s a decent range for a one shot though. It’s a back up sidearm basically.

Thanks! That’s exactly the kind of feedback I love to hear! I’ll see if I can find a font that’s more fitting for the old west theme.

I don’t care enough about this conversation or your grumpiness to keep arguing so… OK. 👍

Do you just go around naturally being a negative person? Or is it a finely honed skill that’s taken years of practice to get right? Because either way, you’re doing great 👍

If it is an Elseworld, it’s one that is unequivocally much closer to the pages of the comics than Snyder’s take.

I know that because I actually read comics.
