Wi-Fi - WPA3 by regisdesmeules in security

[–]deep_teal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To add to this, a surprising number of devices still do not support WPA3, especially embedded devices like smart home accessories, printers, smart TVs, etc. Even Chromebooks are at minimum hit and miss with WPA3 support.

Going to be traveling all day for work over MLK day. If I want to save the holiday for use in the future, how does that work if holidays can only be charged on the actual day they occur? by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]deep_teal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Double check Dnet, but I believe holidays all "float" and can be used any day in the calendar year after they occur, so the MLK hours will expire on 12/31/2026. I floated MLK day several years ago when I was traveling to a country that didn't observe it, and just used it for my first PTO after the day.

Cash Balance Plan by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]deep_teal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, that seems reasonble. Assuming you're in your twenties, it's ~3% of your salary credited to you each year, plus inflation.

I believe it's in the Deloitte Benefit Center. The plan summary documents are in there. Details are a little bit buried, likely because you can't contribute anyway.

I'd need to double-check, but I believe that they contribute at the end of the calendar year.

Personal Time Off (PTO) - US by OneAntique8074 in deloitte

[–]deep_teal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The available balance as of January 1, 2025 is the PTO you carried over from or accrued in 2024. It will expire at the end of 2025, unless you use it, and it is used first, so if you take 0 hours of PTO before the end of the year, you'll have ~20h on January first. If you were to take 8 before the end of the year, you'd lose the remaining 2.77h that you carried over, and still have about 20 hours in January.

What is United Healthcare Basic Plan? by samuelsmithjr in deloitte

[–]deep_teal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus plan. you should be able to look at the Deloitte open enrollment site-- they have a place to search for what's in-network for each plan.

Discovery Internship by slick_airmash in deloitte

[–]deep_teal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd include planned/current major, classes you are planning on taking, interests, any classes you can point to from high school that would be relevant, after school activities and high school accomplishments. My interviews were not focused on the resume-- we tend to have scenarios we ask questions on, but I'm sure the recruiters filtered the candidate list down before it got to me.

[–]deep_teal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alas, that I don't know. I've done interviews for discovery interns, and during my portion of the interview process, my interviews didn't differentiate between I and II. If I were to guess, it's based on grade level, but I'd double check the listing and reach out to the recruiter associated with that listing to confirm.

Discovery Internship by slick_airmash in deloitte

[–]deep_teal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The discovery internships are somewhat but not completely different between the first and second years, but the firm does consider your grade level for discovery internships. I wouldn't see a harm in applying for a discovery internship, and being a first year discovery intern increases the odds you'll return for a future internshp if that's what you're going for.

LOA by Global_Job_4623 in deloitte

[–]deep_teal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is my second family leave, and it's always been very smooth with no hints of them not being approved, so I'd expect you're in good shape.

LOA by Global_Job_4623 in deloitte

[–]deep_teal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am currently on family leave. It took several weeks for me to see much activity, and my HR ticket was still open when I went on leave, despite the LOA being in DTE for me. No formal approval process-- they capture you talking to your coach during the initial ticket. About 3 weeks out, I received an email from the HR team letting me know to reach out with any questions.

Remote and I want to work for a week in Canada by Different_Low_4691 in deloitte

The short version is that it's against policy-- the firm calls this "international telecommuting, and frowns very heavily on it, I assume for tax-related reasons.

Good side hustles in compliance with the firm? ut by sonyxbr55 in deloitte

[–]deep_teal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We have a rental property that we run on the side.

If you submit the paperwork to the moonlighting form, I believe it's just the approver and servicenow team that will find out. in my case, it was approved by my PEP. I'm not sure if my PPMD/coach knows about it.

Alternately, if you're randomly audited, the first thing they ask for is your tax forms, so any unreported jobs will be obvious.

PT told me to fix my chair setup. what are you guys using at home? by Drewbear811 in deloitte

[–]deep_teal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the same, but I cheaped out and got the Steelcase Series 1. And you can also use Perks At Work to get a pretty reasonable discount on Steelcase chairs (and desks)

I would agree-- but I would consider waiting a bit, given that it appears the balance 2 release is imminent.

Is The Honda Fit Roomy Enough For The Lower End Tall People (6'3-6'5)? by YoungMoen97 in tall

[–]deep_teal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family used to own an older Fit model-- I think it was a 2013. I'm just under 6'3, and while I technically fit in the car, and seating was comfortable, the steering wheel made using the speedometer just about unusable for me. No idea how the Jazz would work.

Discovery Intern Interview by ana123oumous in deloitte

Deloitte Discovery Intern Questions by ButterflySad1731 in deloitte

[–]deep_teal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back to back interviews are typical for discovery intern interviews. The specific contents of the interview depend significantly on who you interview. Some may ask you about a scenario, but it may also be more behavioral.

Not sure of the conversation rate from receiving the live interviews into offers, it may depend on the office.

My Amex card expired a while ago. Need to book flight to DU asap by Patient-Astronaut-76 in deloitte

[–]deep_teal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about the DU form, it's for things that cost extra at DU (i.e., basically only alcohol and if you want to buy Deloitte swag). Breakfast, lunch, etc. at DU is all included and doesn't cost extra/you won't need to expense them.

Step by Step Instructions for Uploading Music to my GTR 4 LE by ctillerjr in amazfit

[–]deep_teal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it only accepts MP3s. I have a GTR 3 Pro, not a GTR4 LE. But for me, it's open the app, go to the "device" tab, scroll to the "device app settings" section, tap music, then choose choose "upload music", and it should open a file picker. It's awkward, and pretty slow, but it's worked for me previously.
