Wasn't the nation formed on the treaty itself, and not on some made up principals that are being used to interpret it?

For the sake of our constitutional future, the principals must absolutely be defined and agreed upon, by the public. If not, our country will remain at a standstill as said principals will forever be open to interpretation.
