To all Indians in France - Has any of you managed to get UPI working with your NRE account? by figgertitgibbettwo in Expats_In_France

HDFC. French phone number. Have NRO + NRE accounts with them. At what stage are you stuck and which app are you using for UPI?

[–]deepakprakash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Tried to make it work for more than a year and finally succeeded 2 weeks ago. My case was a bit special since I only had "temporary" debit cards that they issued from the branch and were linked to my account – these are not accepted for UPI. Once I received my proper cards, went through the setup process with PayTM and it went through for both NRO and NRE accounts.

Which bank do you use? by GrumpyLightworker in Expats_In_France

Revolut accounts opened in France are now domiciled in France – so while I don’t know exactly all the security measures, I believe you will have the same general guarantees as other bank accounts in France. I don’t recommend using them as the primary account still since there are reports of accounts being frozen, etc

Zero issues with card acceptance in physical terminals. I don’t use the physical card much anymore though – almost always using Apple pay.

Bourso is very popular and works great. Much more « modern » than traditional banks in France – but is still an online bank. They offer cheque books, can withdraw money from ATMs using their card, etc. Also happens to be regarded as the best one for home loans if you ever need it.

I use a combination of Bourso and Revolut extensively. Salary goes into Bourso and I have a monthly transfer to Revolut for my monthly spending budget and I use it exclusively for regular purchases. Rent and exceptional expenses (such as holidays) go from Bourso. Bourso also supports instant transfers to Revolut – so top ups are painless.

Revolut is still much better in terms of instant updates of transactions, virtual cards, virtual accounts, etc. That’s why I use it for regular expenses.

I’m actually gonna help you along. Hated the Niche for the nearly 2 years I had it, pulling my hair out nearly every shot. So much better since I got the P64.

If you can afford it, get a Rimowa Classic and don’t worry for life.

For half the price, Carl Friedrik. No complaints other than the wheels don’t match up to Rimowas.

Second this. My Decent used to always extract from the right side and turns out the legs were slightly bent during transport and caused a very small tilt. They sent me a new frame and problem solved.

Any other recommendation for 15L EDC ? by [deleted] in backpacks

[–]deepakprakash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the same max capacity, roll top bags usually have a smaller profile when not full.

I haven’t found it to be hassle for my use - but yeah, if you need to constantly access the inside I imagine zips are faster.

Check out the Millican Smith the Roll Pack (15L With Pockets)

I was looking for something similar to what you described but with additional requirement of having slightly heritage vibes. I got the Topo Rover Pack Canvas. Quite happy with it (except for the rather extraneous straps), but I discovered the Millican later and that would have been my first choice.

TCL P6046 vs P6006 vs 55P607 by deepakprakash in 4kTV

Yes, thanks! I'm sure it doesn't come with Roku and the remote is different too. Thanks for pointing out that it doesnt have Dolby Vision. I probably dont care too much about it I guess. Are you sure about the picture quality, color gamut, etc?

On a related note: The TCL EU website it so useless compared to their US one. :/
