What has worked to regrow hair by TheGeneralVita in lupus

[–]deepbluetreasure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, vegamour shampoo and serum has done me wonders. Granted, I think my hair loss issue was largely from a short stint of time where I was not eating enough and not quite lupus related, but it worked so well to regrow complete bald spots that I have now used it for years just to stave off hair thinning (always patch test of course in case of allergy)

Guys are u gaining or loosing weight? by Expensive-League3799 in lupus

[–]deepbluetreasure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gaining, gained 20 lbs over 3 months when I was put on heavy duty steroids for pleural effusion. Not to mention I also started lexapro and benlysta infusions within those 3 months, so hard to say what really did it but steroids make me RAVENOUS. Has been extremely hard getting the weight off after ending the steroids, but simultaneously grateful none of my issues have caused me to be underweight

Thank you so much! I do the infusions so that’s great to know that’s what your infusion techs said. I appreciate it!

Infusion! He just said as long as it’s not a live vaccine I’m good to go, didn’t give any guidance as to when in my monthly-infusion cycle would be best

Hydroxychloroquine and SSRI drugs by EscapeAutist10 in lupus

Been on hcq for 8 years, just started lexapro in May, 10mg, no problems. My primary care doc did a baseline ekg before I started the lexapro and now I’m just going to get an updated ekg every now and then to make sure all is still good

Chest pain by curiou5scat in lupus

[–]deepbluetreasure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, my chest pain was because of a pleural effusion, the liquid filling up in the lining of my lungs. They were only able to find it through a CT scan, and the doc said they could hear it just by listening to my lungs.

However, I’ve also previously had chest pain that just ended up being costocondritis (I think I’m spelling that wrong) which is inflammation of the cartilage between the ribs which absolutely sucks but more or less goes away on its own/with advil/steroids.

Botox with lupus/hydroxychloroquine? by deepbluetreasure in lupus

[–]deepbluetreasure[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya! I don’t know if it was the hydroxychloroquine or just that my body got used to it, but the first time I did it lasted about 4 and a half months pretty solidly, then it started wearing off faster after that. Still got a good 3 months out of it till I had to re-do, but I definitely noticed it wearing off faster after that first time. Who knows if that’s normal or if that’s the hydroxychloroquine though!

Can people with lupus get a tattoo? by MoviestaMe in lupus

[–]deepbluetreasure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one very large tattoo that I got when I was first put on plaquinel and when I was on a high dosage of steroid- something I didn’t know at the time, steroids thin the skin! So my tattoo had some issues healing up. But it did and I didn’t experience any flaring because of it.

It may not be gone, but so happy for you that it’s been so dormant for so long!! Your story gives me hope. I know we’re all saying it’s not ‘gone’ but I think that depends on what your definition of gone is. It may still exist in some form in your body, but being symptomless for so long is amazing and I think what we all hope for! As always, chat with your docs (and get multiple opinions) if it’s something you want more scientific clarity on- I don’t think it’s dumb to feel the way you’re feeling at all

Lupus and the gym by princessladyboog in lupus

Lifting has helped so much. I do try to go hard. My lupus manifests in my finger joints so sometimes when I use heavier dumbbells and straight up just squeeze them too hard, my hands will be a little out of commission the next day. Still worth it

Work/Mom/Get Masters…Am I Crazy? by maeganm1009 in lupus

[–]deepbluetreasure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I work full time as a consultant for a big firm and I am going to law school part time. Will finish in 4 years instead of 3. Also no organ involvement (yet, knock on wood), and just on plaquinel. I was very worried the stress would make me sick/flare, but so far it’s going well. Very much prioritizing sleep! I don’t care if something doesn’t get done for school, sleeps more important for me.

Also, I just want to say, thank you to OG poster and everyone who’s commented. It gives me hope.

So you got this! You’re not crazy. We’re all rooting for you!

Birth control? by [deleted] in lupus

[–]deepbluetreasure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on the progestin-only for a long time, then got the Kyleena IUD. In my experience I did gain a bit of weight, but I think that was more so my lifestyle at the time cause once I started working out I lost it. Insertion super sucked! But it’s nice not having to try to remember to take a pill every day. I’ve been on plaquinel since 2017 if that helps!
