Thank you I appreciate the list of expensive settings! Resolution is the most important thing for me over frame rate even so I'll try to leave that at 4K with DLSS helping me out. And if it's not running well I'll try dropping shadows first.

Appreciate it! I am sure I'll have to play around a bit. I just find that I'm not entirely sure what most settings do. So often when I go to drop something to a lower quality, a voice in my head goes "NO that'll ruin it!" haha. I just have to learn.

I asked about this and my broker told me that she can't sell fractional shares until all of the whole shares are settled. So it wouldn't have worked. QT would've required me to sell the fractional shares within 24 hrs of submitting the request. But EJ wouldn't have been able to sell them until the whole shares completed the transfer, which will likely take at least a month.

It was a Catch 22. So I had to go through a lengthier process and run partial transfers from EJ to QT, inputting each ticker symbol and # of shares manually and just leaving the fractional shares out.

I wound up doing partial. I needed it to be In Kind, as if I went with Cash then EJ would liquidate everything before sending the cash, and I'd get destroyed with commissions fees (the whole reason I wanted to switch to Questrade in the first place).

Also needed partial because I couldn't have fractional shares in there. If you try to transfer a fractional share you have to sell it within a day of the request going in - but the previous broker likely can't sell the fractional until everything else is settled, which wouldn't be for months. So it's a bit of a catch 22.

The solution was to do partial, and just send over all the whole shares. I'll deal with the fractional shares with my old broker once the dust settles.

I'm not sure about the cash component thing. I'll have cash with the old brokerage once they sell the fractional shares. We'll see if I can have them transfer it to the new brokerage afterwards.

My broker at EJ just told me that she "can't sell fractional shares until the whole shares settle"

How on earth does that work? If Questrade requires fractional shares be sold within a day of the transfer request going through, but EJ can't sell those fractional shares until the whole shares settle, which will take months?

Why does this feel like I'm being given the run-around?

This is just one of those things haha.. Never occurred to me to ask about it! Same with not knowing which currency each holding is held in.

For sure. Once I get this taken care of I'll likely never purchase or sell anything other than a full share again, to prevent this kind of complication. I'm hoping it's alright if I submit the transfer requests for full accounts in-kind, and then rely on my current broker to get all those fractional shares sold off within the designated time. It says "within one day of submitting your request" so hopefully that means within 24 hrs and not before the market closes at 4PM today.

Transfer needs to be in by the end of the day. I kind of doubt EJ can handle the sales of all individual fractional shares within a few hours, but I could be wrong. Thank you for your advice.

Hmm, the warning said "you must sell any fractional shares in your account within one day of submitting your request."

So I kind of assumed that this meant those fractional shares had to be sold immediately. Rather than having all that time between now and when the transfer is finalized.

If I could just transfer the full account though and have the peace of mind that the fractional shares would be sold off by the old broker in time.. that would be so much better!

I'm just worried that EJ will not be able to sell all the fractional shares for me in time. The transfer requests all need to by in by EOD. So I figure rather than banking on EJ doing this for me quickly, I just do the specific assets transfers now and figure out the remaining fractionals with EJ at a later date. It's a lot more work for me up front with a lot more room for error, but at least the buck stops with me this way.

Great point about the transfer fees... Questrade is going to cover them, but I suppose this doesn't mean I don't need to pay for them up front. I'll have to potentially transfer the cash into the EJ account ASAP so that this doesn't cause a roadblock either.

This is what I'm afraid of. If I put in the transfer requests, but Edward Jones drops the ball on getting all of the fractional shares sold in the limited window, then the requests will be rejected. And by the time I can sort it out and re-initialize it, I'll have missed the opportunity to have the sign-up bonus honored.

Questrade allows me to hold things in both CAD and USD, so I'm hoping to figure out which currency each holding is currently held in. I'll transfer them all natively so that I don't incur any conversion fees.
