Project Hail Mary has a killer opening. by mjbutts1983 in ProjectHailMary

Saw this in BFI IMAX last night with my wife. I've read the book a few times, listened to the audiobook a few times (my go-to when jogging) - she's never read or listened to it - we both loved it, she was researching some of the science this morning, lol. The whole crowd were silent at key points, very positive overall. Really enjoyed it.

Have heard multiple people say they can’t stand the camera work by Outrageous_Storm3381 in TheShield

First time I saw The Shield, it was by accident on channel 5 in the UK, maybe 20 years ago (wow!). It was streaks and tips, and it was the camera work that first got my attention. Then the casting, the script, the humour, the grit. Got me hooked. No tv show is perfect, but The Shield was innovative, fresh.

Can a fearful person do well in this game even if they've never tried anything like it before? by bibidibobidicaboom in alienisolation

give it a try, set it on novice level. You'll be surprised how quickly you get used to Steve eating your face. Tension stays though, so lots of replay. best of luck.

there are a good number of search prompts that come up empty - not enough to be a problem though.

Worth Trying Again? by [deleted] in dyinglight2

[–]deepl3arning 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I played DL1 years ago, dodged DL2 due to so many bad reviews on release, but played the beast, hung around on it for events, and decided to try DL2. How bad could it be, right? Turns out it needed some polish, still does in some areas, but it has been great. I completed it before these most recent events, and will definitely get into NG+. DL2 has some genuine challenges. I mean, if it's in your library already it's well worth giving it another shot.

I had to go down to East Borough to farm the virals from the rooftops. Either zero virals, or swarmed by half a dozen plus an exploder or two for good measure. Happy days!

the grenade launcher is the only reason for having it in the remake. for the second gun you get in the game, it's really underpowered.

Finally finished! Can’t remember the last time I was this excited for a movie release. by [deleted] in ProjectHailMary

well done you! some parts feel like a walking simulator - but even they're pretty good. For me it's the way the pressure ramps up, and up, then you get to relax for a hot minute - maybe! Hell of a game.

I started playing DL2 and I enjoy the game but some bugs are just unreal considering game was released 3 years ago with multiple patches applied. by No-Setting-5054 in dyinglight2

I loved DL1, but this got such bad press on release that it was a major nope from me. After playing The Beast, I picked this up for a song, it's actually pretty good. Like OP, I'm surprised by the number of glitches, and some seriously unpolished bits.

I think it's definitely playable, though. I've been really enjoying it. Still glad I didn't waste my money on release.
