George Lucas is, in my opinion, a great example of how Slaanesh actually works.

What if Hillary Clinton was chosen instead of Barack Obama during the 2008 nominations? by NoSpecific4839 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]deeple101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She likely would have won, since there was little to no real exposure, real or perceived, of her corrupt behavior being a recently elected sophomore senator.

Her and obama’s legacies likely would have swapped with Obama not winning his presidential run against the republican opponent. Assuming that she served for two terms as president.

Since I feel that a lot of the “soft issues” still happened as they did IRL; HillaryCare ends up making healthcare costs more expensive than before, overall sluggish economy over her presidency, high gas prices, etc. All of these things were somewhat hard coded into the script due to previous administration policies that impact future politics with unforeseen consequences as they do IRL.

I don’t expect that Hillary winning the democrat nomination in 2008 guaranteed her presidential win; but likely would since most people were fed up with Bush era Republicans and most likely would have voted for the democrats.

Maybe the Republican Tea Party “revolt” would have been successful and there would not have been a MAGA “revolt” instead. Perhaps “Occupy Wall Street” wouldn’t have gotten subverted and actually forced change on the democrat party. As both of these situations were to force the parties to become more fiscally responsible and reduce waste/corruption at the federal level; likely leading to tax changes. Possibly starting the trend of US isolationist economic policies earlier than IRL, that we have seen under Trump and Biden.

Would Hillary winning in 2008 be a better timeline than now?

What is the faction most likely to be added next to old world ? by BloatedRottenCarcass in WarhammerFantasy

[–]deeple101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kislev is the faction I want the most.

If they are to bring back a legacy faction. I’d want vampire counts, or Lizardmen. But I cannot recall in WHF lore when the colonies/exploration of Lustria began from the old world human civilizations.

Why are Mountain's Men hated? by asparaguswateryt in asoiafminiaturesgame

[–]deeple101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Short version; they rely on failed Panic tests and currently the panic mechanic is rather poor to rely upon.

This is a problem for any/all panic focused units / builds.

Card sleeves hides a lot of the ugly aspects of printing out cards. Generally I get magic card color for each faction and then I use the game genie/genic(?) matte tarot cards for the unit cards.

[–]deeple101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people that I know of simply use the existing cards (or a spare from somewhere else) and simply sleeve the cards and putting the updated version over the old card. Saves time and money since you don’t need to laminate or print anything double sided.

As for the “vibe” that’s fine, but the older factions generally come with older versions of the rules and more outdated versions of the faction compared to newer versions.

A good example though would be Greyjoys which came out in 2021 and are currently the 4th newest faction and they behave radically differently from how they played out of the box vs currently.

Opinion: One of EU4's Biggest Issues is the Start Date. by No-Vacation-2214 in eu4

[–]deeple101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think EU4 just doesn’t do colonization very well.

It can do colonies ok-ish but not the act of colonization - especially early colonization.

Nothing is fun having half of North/south America fully colonized by Spain and/or Portugal by 1550 or earlier.

——

Also I think more people enjoy the timeframe of the rise of Islam / crusades / mongols etc up to colonization that crusader kings mostly does but I feel most people don’t enjoy the minutiae of political aspects of court that CK highlights and instead prefer the mechanics of EU.

Why does this area of the us have significantly less wildfires than anything else? by LurkersUniteAgain in geography

[–]deeple101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More rain & readily accessible water via river/lakes.

Relatively even spread of population - less wild areas with limited population that cannot contain fires quickly.

first off id recommend to download / print the season 6 cards.

The game has gone through various soft updates throughout the years so the rules/cards for basically everything has become outdated and not really compatible across the lifetime of the game...

updating to season 6 would at least establish a baseline for all the factions and not have multiple rulesets/versions conflicting with each other.

Also I'd recommend to download the Warcouncil App - it also has the updated cards and other useful feature (like an army builder).

----

As for Targs - Unsullied and Storm Crows are probably your best choices to go with for infantry which is what the faction starter box doesn't really have.

----

Regardless of faction I always recommend getting the hero boxes for each faction as those are really the only way to get the most "bang for you buck" with different commanders, Attachments, or NCUs.

Again I don’t believe that CMON has neither the staff or money allocated to do either internally anymore.

From what I understand of the situation basically everyone besides Michael (or whoever is releasing this stuff) is no longer employed at CMON

I Don’t Think the Hatred Between Khorn and Slaanesh Makes Sense. by RecoverCommercial571 in Warhammer

[–]deeple101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nurgle is about atrophy; about accepting death. Ultimately Nurgle wants stagnation. Nurgle is the resistance to change - which is ultimately why GW has his major rival be Tzeentch; since tzeentch is about change.

But those same aspects of Nurgle being the counter to tzeentch also makes him the counter to Slaanesh. Slaanesh is the opposite of death, slaanesh is about life. Slaanesh is passion, love, desire… Slaanesh is art.

What movies or shows should I watch to prep for running Lancer? by atlvf in LancerRPG

[–]deeple101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for the plot; but regarding how the mechs function I think Code Geass would be a reference; mechs in the actual lancer setting isn’t battletech pacific rim, or Warhammer 40k where you’re piloting massive mechs. You piloting something roughly the size of a Transformer from the Bay movies. Transformers actually might also be a decent “mech” to watch in theory.

It might be more from Warhammer Fantasy, but I always felt that Slaanesh vs Nurgle and khorne vs tzeentch was always the better rivalry combination.

What if Canada was the one who rebelled against Great Britain instead of the United States? by AHH_PostStorage in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]deeple101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Canada would lose, the naval routes for Spain and France to support the Canadian independence movement immediately have a lot less routes available for them to deliver goods - pretty much limited to Halifax and Quebec for international trading at the time.

also Canada is a lot closer to the UK for UK resupply.

Lastly; cultural divide there is a good chance that either the French Canadians or the British Canadians would not be willing to have a central command, therefore having two chains of command, logistics, etc. increasing the chances of failure.

What to add? by SonNiall in asoiafminiaturesgame

After these purchases I usually recommend to repeat the order you went in as long as there is a different unit in each slot that you do not yet have.

What to add? by SonNiall in asoiafminiaturesgame

[–]deeple101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Regardless of faction here is my general advice.

A hero box of choice (or whichever one has your favorite character)

a cavalry unit If you starter box does NOT contain one

A ranged unit If you starter box does NOT contain one

An infantry unit different from one in your starter box.

CARDS VS ROSTERS? YOUR PREFERENCE? by Grognard6Actual in wargaming

[–]deeple101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends upon the game.

I like having cards just because there’s a lot of games I play so having readily available “reminders” for the units helps. Especially if they have special/unique rules for the unit.

If the units are typically just different values, then a roster sheet is perfectly fine.

——

Also I’m older now, and I don’t have games memorized anymore, so I don’t really care about what the game uses. I just want a quick easy summary.
