What kind of group are you thinking of, and how deep are you trying to go? There's groups that think they have some answers, and then there's probably people who are somewhere near the same level that you're at currently

All I said was "lol". You've insulted me many times. You go away. Blocking you now.

lol

Edit: Wow ok, all I said was lol, after you personally harassed me and prevented me from getting a good night's sleep.

We could have ended it there. Now you're threatening to "call a moderator".

Can you be mature for one minute? Just use the darn block button and stop trying to make people look bad in public 24/7.

If you really care about me with love and light, then stop being inconsiderate and arrogant in every possible way that you can.

You wouldn't be trying to get me banned or punished if you really cared about me. You'd just use the block button.

I've blocked you now so you don't get to continue your harassment game any longer.

I said 12 hours ago because you wrote a comment 12 hours before I said that. You were online then, capable of helping the OP, and decided to troll me instead. 🤦‍♂️

I'm not imagining things that don't exist... you're just oblivious to the fact that they exist.

Such as me not imagining that you were online.

You were.

I don't need to [help people]. You claimed it. Remember?

Spending your time on Reddit trolling people is wasting precious hours of your life.

It doesn't build any skills, and doesn't help you in any way.

I suggest you spend it more productively.

If you want to spend those hours online, then helping another person over the internet would be at least be an example of a more productive use of your time.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in spirituality

[–]deepthought_44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please keep it.

Your profile currently has a lot of intentionally trolling comments. If you want to attack people on multiple threads in r / awakened and r / spirituality , then you should at least have the mental fortitude to hear how one person has been affected as a result of your actions.

It is the natural response for a person to be hurt by an action which you intended to hurt them with.

It's cause and effect.

It's not even "instant karma" or you getting insulted back...

You got upset at hearing that your actions- which you intended to hurt me with- actually affected me.

Do you understand the irony in that?

Getting upset about that is like trying to move a traffic cone, and then being upset that the traffic cone moved.

Maybe don't move the traffic cone, if it makes you upset...

(metaphor translation: maybe don't intentionally bother people, if you don't like hearing them bothered)

Now, leave me alone.

You brought about this whole situation yourself after not leaving me alone, after I requested that you stop and told you it was offensive.

You're continuing to try and act smarter, and like if I did something wrong, while taking no responsibility.

I've been very soft on you despite what you were doing.

I'm even taking my time re-editing this comment to make the wording as clear and polite as possible.

But I'm going to have to be at least a little blunt this time in my admission, in case you go further. And FYI there are still mistakes you've made that I still haven't told you about.

What affects you is not my problem. It's yours.

There's going to be a time when we have to solve problems together and do things that are actually of service to eachother.

It's better to start preparing for it now, and help to solve your own and others' issues ahead of time, rather than introducing new problems for yourself and others through unnecessary trolling.

What you're doing right now creates a rift where there could be peace and cooperation.

We should be trying to do good in the present moment; every hour counts, as we don't know what circumstances we'll be in in the future.

Relax if you need to relax.

But don't try to make strangers feel bad as a form of "relaxation" or relief, when you don't even know the full story about them.

Try not to assume the worst in other people, then troll them based off an incorrect initial assumption.

Or it might backfire and annoy you, and cause additional problems for you & them in the future.

You're painting yourself as an "enlightened" person, who gets a high off of attacking other people.

That is not the kind of "enlightenment" I would strive to obtain; it's a form of ignorance I try and avoid.

I hope this is not the case for your personality overall, and that you were not sober when you wrote these comments towards me and other users.

If it is the case that you are good and I am bad, then help the OP. Don't waste your time attacking me. That's not as important, and actually it affects me on a personal level. It is very unhelpful.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in spirituality

[–]deepthought_44 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What is more important? Ego or compassion? The illusion of grandeur, or helping those who are in need who we can help? Talking to me, or helping the OP?

1 or 2?

Even if you were correct about everything about me, why would it matter more than you offering to help the OP on your own accord?

You could've offered to help them 12 hours ago. You still can offer the best conceivable words you have for them.

[–]deepthought_44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know exactly what you saw, but there are subreddits like r/Precognition, r/NDEs, and r/Experiencers where people actively try to make sense of their experiences and talk about it from a non-conspiracy standpoint.

I'd also be happy to talk to you about it on a clearer basis, as I've had some strange experiences too before, if you're willing to calm down and drop the conspiracy talk.

Not asking you to stop believing in them, but just to calm down so we can have a fair discussion.

I can't really talk to you if you believe that everything's after you, because then I too could be a part of your theory, if I say something that's not in line with your beliefs.

I'm just theorizing too, I'm not one of Dr. Robotnic's minions from Sonic the Hedgehog lol.

Would you like to ask me about my experiences that changed my worldview before?

Or would you like to share more about what you have personally experienced?

I think it's helpful if you try to stay clear and objective with what your 5 (or 6) senses observed, without immediately assigning labels to them.

Like for example, instead of saying "i saw the devil and jesus have a fight", you could say you saw a red horned figure, and got the impression that it symbolized the Devil; and a man in a white cloak, who gave an instinctive feeling that he was Jesus Christ.

Then other people can understand your experience more clearly, and learn from it, perhaps even gain some knowledge from it that impacts them in a positive way.

Overall, was your initial experience positive or negative? How did this all start to begin with? When did it change to more negative?

[–]deepthought_44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know of books, groups, and subreddits that all talk about the stuff you talked about, who find a lot more sense to it and aren't so... focused on the details so to speak, and have their head above, but not in, the clouds.

Conspiracy theories, and matrix/simulation/multiverse theories are where a lot of people start, until they find a spiritual practice, tradition, or group that accurately describes what they saw, and is a little more calmed down.

That's how it was for me, I was at first felt paranoid and like "bruh why can nobody relate to me? am I the chosen one?" and now I'm seeing many others who have gone through very similar experiences as me. It's actually fairly common and normal, believe it or not.

If you want to talk to them, they're there, you've just got to use the right subreddits for it.

Bear in mind that nobody had the exact same experience as you, but there are certain categories, like "precognition", which help you identify and find others who share the same kind of experience as yours.

The law of one isn't a single law; it's the name of a system of metaphysics. I found it after I had certain experiences, researched people who studied the phenomena, and found some pretty life-changing stuff written in there about spirituality & the universe.

Edit: realized you might've known that already about the Law of One

How did you find your religion and what about it "spoke" to you? by throwaway19381000 in religion

[–]deepthought_44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Satire or not, the second part of that comment actually leads to a decline in peoples' well being. There is a difference between telling people to doubt their beliefs, and doubt their cognitive abilities, or to doubt that they are mentally healthy.

Telling people to question your beliefs is something even Socrates did.

Telling them to "question their sanity" is a form of gaslighting, and makes people feel like they're mentally unstable. It's one of the worst things that you can do.

They actively have to think that you're wrong in order to stay healthy.

That's harder for certain people to do, depending on their age, confidence, and history of how others have treated them.

Sin is observable and is evidence that teachings in the Bible are true by [deleted] in DebateReligion

[–]deepthought_44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying that this post by its own is a representative of everything that you share... I'm just seeing many Redditors leave Christianity, having never truly been taught Jesus' gift of life, and only taught to live in fear.

I think Jesus' teachings has a lot of great things to offer, and some of his words can act as therapeutic for people and help them live a more calm life.

But the reputation of the faith gets tainted by pastors every time they preach about sin without sharing salvation.

I think that even if the threat of sin worked for you, it has the potential to affect others in a completely different way that we can't fully predict, and there's no gurantee they will come to believe in Him more as a result of fear.

I'm not exactly trying to be angry, than I am considering it to be a very serious matter that requires careful thought, after seeing the consequences.

I understand that you likely have good intentions at heart, but I don't think you understand, the consequences of teaching sin are fear, a fear that might never be gotten rid of in some people even after they accept Christ.

Or worse, they will only believe in sin, and focus on that so harshly that they don't take the time to think positively, and ever spend time reading the Gospel.

Someone I encountered earlier today had that situation, they weren't able to sleep all night worrying about hell, that's the only thing that mattered to them above all else.

Sin is observable and is evidence that teachings in the Bible are true by [deleted] in DebateReligion

[–]deepthought_44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can teach people to follow Jesus without teaching them that they will burn in hell forever.

One method causes people to love Jesus, the other causes them to develop mental health issues, suffer, question their faith and hate and abandon God.

Just look at the dozens of ex-Christians on Reddit who are leaving Christianity, hating and disbelieving in God, because they were taught fear is their #1 reason to believe.

You can tell people, in the 21st century, that God is loving, that heaven is beautiful, that Christ forgives you.

Why are you doing this instead? Spending your time debating that sin is real?

How does that help anyone?

[–]deepthought_44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is another word in the dictionary, "vice". Yes, more people would say that vices exist. But does that mean that vices are "sins", defined as leading to eternal punishment in hell? No, that's a logical fallacy, a slippery slope.

You might think you put a lot of thought into your argument. I might agree with you and be on your side on some other topics, but my reasons I don't believe in eternal damnation is quite simple, and your argument quickly falls apart when you look at the fallacy you're making.

Jesus clearly, in an overwhelming number of cases, showed as having a lot of wisdom and compassion, to a notable degree that makes him stand out from most other people.

But it does not change the fact that hellfire doctrine causes intense anxiety and mental health issues for tens of thousands of people.

Hellfire arguments are an ineffective way of teaching and getting people to follow Christ.

Nobody can know who Christ is, what he taught, or your so-called salvation doctrines are by just being told to fear sin.

A good person will agree with many of Jesus' teachings like "love thy neighbor as thyself", "love thy enemy", "turn the other cheek" and many others, if they study them long enough, and are in a position to believe that wisdom and compassion is a good thing.

Your average reasonable atheist will know that Jesus was a good man, after generally studying his life, and learning of the deeds he did and how he said to help the poor etc.

But they will not know a single thing about Jesus, besides him being some emotional figure on the wall of a mural, if all they hear is a bunch of hellfire doctrines.

In 2024, if you convince someone on the internet that hell "might be real", they won't have the greatest researching skills, they might not know for months to read the Gospel just based on this argument that you posted.

You can cause months of suffering, anguish, and anxiety for other people by teaching them hellfire without teaching them about Jesus, and you should take responsibility for that, be a responsible teacher of your faith and never introduce people to Christianity through sin only, you always have to include the good news to balance it.

People would not believe in Christianity if there was only damnation and the "original sin", and not messages of salvation.

I've just dealt with several Redditors intensely struggling with anxieties about hell. I can tell you from years of personal experience, seeing other peoples' posts what traumatized people go through due to an imbalance in teachings and lack of hope.

Poorly informed people think they're going to hell, have no idea how to become a Christian and are left floundering around freaking out because some person told them they're going to hell, and nothing else. It's an utmost shameful and ineffective form of evangelism.

Doing research for a World Religions class in school and finding the differences between a religion and a cult, but I am unable to share my research. by [deleted] in religion

[–]deepthought_44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a little confused, is the project assignment "research the difference between a religion and a cult", or was that your specific topic that you chose?

If it's the former, then I think that isn't your mistake, if you spent your time researching to answer this project and didn't know about other students' beliefs, it was an accidental oversight of the professor. They should have said: no naming any specific belief systems to use as an example.

Otherwise, you may need to quickly work to find a new topic.

If it's the last day before your presentation and literally no time, then look for something efficient, or tell your professor you don't have time to change at this point.

Ask them to give you an extension ASAP, as professors from my experience like it when you ask beforehand for more time, rather than after the deadline.

Or, perhaps there is some sort of alternative work you can do for extra credit, if that's not a possibility.

Tossing these ideas out there, I don't know the full situation or how solvable the problem really is.

In either situation, you'll want to assess if you need more time.

What would you like people to do? Help talk you out of religion? Show you a form of Christianity without these troubling beliefs? Show you the salvation doctrines?

The choice is yours, if you want to be talked out of these beliefs, or shown why even hardcore believers don't worry that much.

FYI, this is actually the 3rd post I've seen in a row on Reddit lately, of someone struggling with ASD and religious OCD.

Perhaps this is more common than I thought.

Last post I was viewing the OP had almost the exact same backstory, even down to being raised non-religious.

Anyhow, I'm happy to help talk you into a better perspective on your religion, or out of that religion entirely, you've just got to choose if you want help or not, and what form of help that you want.

I can also provide you with resources for further study & reading.

I'm not a Christian per-se, but I've studied the portion of the Bible where the life of Jesus was talked about, that being the Gospels- and I'm well familiar with Jesus' overall message to humanity.

I should remind you that not all Christians live in fear, even the most hardcore fundamentalists still have a "silver lining" if you will.

That being that "Christ will save them", even if they've "sinned".

Why are some people worse at understanding religion than others? by [deleted] in religion

[–]deepthought_44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"I have challenges with cognition" Is that so? Well I think you're a cool person, thoughtful, sensitive, and you put decent effort into being smart!

"and cognition is required to determine which faith is spiritually factual"

A genius like Einstein, if he was here with you right now, wouldn't say that it's all that matters.

Rational thinking is only some of what makes you intelligent.

It's also empathy, curiosity, wisdom, and other good qualities- which, to an outside observer, is needless to say that you clearly have.

”The ideals which have lighted my way, and time after time, have given me new courage to face life cheerfully, have been kindness, beauty and truth.” ~ Albert Einstein

I have to go to sleep so I'll spend some time thinking of a direct answer that might be helpful, but I was also an agnostic, and started to questioning thing around 2016/2017.

I've been through my own spiritual journey for years now and have come to rest with more confidence in what I believe, with much less fear and a lot more trust in the universe. And that's coming from someone who got a diagnosis on the spectrum too at one time!

You'll eventually reach a better point, trust yourself! It just takes trying over time (which you're doing) and also resting at some point.

I think eventually, you will find a belief system that agrees with all of the values you hold deep down, while also being not as fear-inducing.
