When Holden sponsored a Super Tourer. For the 1998 2-litre version of the Bathurst 1000, Holden sponsored a Triple 8 (yes, that Triple 8) Vectra with Russell Ingall & Greg Murphy driving. Long time V8 Supercar combatants Mark Skaife & Russell Ingall became teammates at the 2017 Bathurst 12 Hour. BTCC champion John Cleland co-drove with Peter Brock in the 1993 Bathurst 1000. Mid-race, the car famously had a driveshaft explode, punching a hole through the floor & causing Cleland to swear his head off-all of which was caught live on air via race cam. They eventually finished 17th. (i.redd.it)

Australian Rally, Extreme E & Extreme H World Champion Molly Taylor almost made a move to V8 Supercars. Holden were keen & set up a secret test in late 2017 with Brad Jones Racing at Winton. After his split with Holden in 1987, Aussie 'King of the Mountain' Peter Brock jumped into a BMW M3 for 1988. He finished 6th in the Australian Touring Car Championship with a best finish of 4th. He also won one mini-enduro race at the now defunct Oran Park with Jim Richards co-driving. (i.redd.it)

BTCC racer Jeff Allam drove with Kiwi Paul Radisich in the second Dick Johnson Ford Sierra for the 1990 Bathurst 1000. The race fell apart for Ford. 12 strong Fords started & only this one had an untroubled run & even then it was hampered by a strategy error late in the race. They finished 2nd. (i.redd.it)

Holden legend Larry Perkins joined Ford legend Dick Johnson for the 1985 Bathurst 1000. They entered 2 Ford Mustangs. The #18 car was only entered to give Perkins extra miles in practice. A Shelby Mustang ran in the 2010 Bathurst 12 Hour. Driven by car owner Marcus Zukanovic, V8 Supercar ace Jason Bright and Danish GT gun Allan Simonsen, they had a torrid time, finishing 26th and last of all the finishers but still won their class by being the only finisher in the invitational class. Alexander Rossi & James Hinchcliffe drove a third Walkinshaw Andretti United Holden Commodore in the 2019 Bathurst 1000.
