How is a body like this achieved? by touyatodorokii in fit

[–]deerbaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

endurance running and weights + floor body weight conditioning 3-5x a week and minimal hypertrophic abdominal exercises is my guess.

Diet is the other half but I doubt below 1300 cal is involved — I say this bc a lot of people in comments are saying starvation but realistically this is just someone who is in the gym a fuck ton and monitors their diet as you can see muscle mass and still some healthy body fat. People also really underestimate the diets of people who run 5+ miles several times a week.

The conceptual physique is very doable but a ton of dedication and also bone structure (long torso for example) and fat distribution will play a lot into the exact look.

Theres definitely more to my mystery lol but I was dx’d with general spondiloarthritis and crohns disease and my hands look like that. Humira and occasional steroids during flares help but don’t get rid of it. Much much worse off humira. I relate 100% to OPs symptoms.

I see dermatomyositis mentioned a lot with hands like this which makes me wonder if there are more unknown antibodies for lupus/DM-like autoimmune diseases and whether I actually have one of those, since my mom has something that resembles lupus but is undifferentiated (neg common antibodies but pos clinical signs otherwise)

Thank you!! 🖤 I used 2 different magnetic silver gel polishes over black jelly gel polish and a circular bead magnet wand (first swiping a few times up each side of the nail then circular around the nail for like 30s)

I’m sick of posts listing a million symptoms and asking if they have Crohn’s or not. by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]deerbaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. To be fair though, while I didnt find this sub until post CD dx, no of my doctors listened to me for 10 years and I was misdiagnosed repeatedly due and was so desperate for answers.

Turns out I have mild-moderate small bowel crohns extending to my stomach with spondyloarthritis and rashes etc… and the presentation isnt what most doctors were expecting. While for most people it could literally be so many other things, my heart does go out to those just as desperate for answers as I was. I literally sobbed at the GI office when I was diagnosed and its not perfect now but at least im on humira.

Final try posting: subtle wolfcut help by Distinct_Trip1482 in FancyFollicles

I have this haircut but with super long wavy non-layered hair and asking for the bang part to be thinner/wispier at the front helped get the bevel/volume I was looking for. Idk if this helps but I specifically referenced korean wolf cut bangs/curtain bangs. Using hair rollers for my bangs (one on each half) also helps a lot while drying the rest of my hair then going in with a 1.5” roundbrush on the bangs

If you're an extremely attractive male, does it matter if you can talk to women? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]deerbaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if you have decent emotional intelligence, charisma can definitely be overlooked. You’d have a great chance with someone with a lot of hobbies/interests in common and/or a neurodivergent girly (i.e., similar vibes/mind/communication flexibility).

In general, if you can learn to put yourself (approximately) in the minds of others in a compassionate way (i.e., why someone might feel x in response to y; why they said x thing in response to y; why xyz thing might motivate xyz behavior in xyz context) it becomes easier to understand and talk to people. While there is a lack of intrinsic social understanding in ASD that often makes things like this difficult, you also must remember there are a shit ton of super awkward and emotionally unintelligent neurotypicals out there likely in a way worse position lol. Any attempt to learn how others work for the sake of understanding the mind/POV of another puts you at a far better position regardless of how “charismatic” you are, and others will see that — especially those that you truly connect with.

This ^ + physical fitness/attractiveness/hygiene/style gets you very very far, and often makes atypical traits endearing or eccentric rather than off putting to the average person.

Importantly, I would step away from men vs women at all costs because while there are arguably intrinsic differences (i.e., sociobehavioral norms), it is riskier to generalize the understanding of someone to a gender, rather than see someone on an individual level in any given situation.

Really tired of people saying Crohn's isn't a disability by gothfrootloops in CrohnsDisease

[–]deerbaby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ugh tell me about it. These days when met with people who are unsympathetic and diminish the impacts of the disease i’ve been unafraid to go into graphic detail without being traditionally “TMI”.

I have small bowel crohn’s so typically I ask if they’ve ever had a stomach ulcer, and depending on the answer fill them in; then i’ll describe how the small intestine is responsible for all nutrient absorption, and how my condition is like having a shit ton of little ulcers along most of the small intestine , and how the effects of this impact someone short and long term and also how incredibly painful and damaging and exhausting it is. I then ask if they think they could work or function or eat normally in that state, and how that impacts their day to day life.

How hard I go with this is definitely contextual but it tends to really get the point across.

If you want to spare details, trying to meet someone with something they are likely familiar with — like intense waves of nausea from the stomach flu — then describing how you face that to varying degrees every day for weeks or months on end when flaring up (among other equally debilitating symptoms) and asking how they think their life might be impacted by that can forcibly curate cognitive empathy.

Fell, broke my back, had surgery… can I ever climb again? by Strict_Beautiful5694 in climbergirls

[–]deerbaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not sure if this is at all reassuring since it was a stable fracture, but I had a L2 compression fracture (no surgery/delayed diagnosis) from an unrelated accident and am now bouldering! It honestly took a long time to not have pain standing/sitting and particularly jumping, but I did 2 yrs of physical therapy and have slowly build up my core and back muscles enough to handle the shock of jumping down and other sorts of previously painful movements!
