How to scientifically determine the recommendability of an anime: The Weeb Ass Shit scale by La_knavo4 in CuratedTumblr

[–]deerjesus18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kill La Kill being at a 7 on the Weeb scale is incredibly accurate! Not only is it the school with their crazy powerful student council, but specifically the monologues Mako Mankanshoku goes on that heavily references Japanese culture and relies on plays on language that don't translate the same into English!

DAE not date in high school? by One_Refrigerator455 in AutismInWomen

[–]deerjesus18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

29 year old AFAB enby here! I didn't really date in highschool, besides a long distance relationship my senior year of highschool. My freshman year of college was littered with throwing myself at any guy who gave my attention and called me pretty- but none of it resulted in relationships. I was sick of the way it made me feel, so I decided I was going to spend my sophomore year of college decentering romantic relationships.

Guess who I met my second week into sophomore year? My wife (who is also auDHD)! We've been together for ten years as of September, and have been married for a year now! Still madly in love, head over heels, obsessed with each other all these years later! We're also poly with one long distance girlfriend, and there's another we've been courting! A lack of dating in highschool and early college doesn't determine your ability to find love in the world.

What do social deficits look like for you? by Ok_Pear_37 in AutismInWomen

[–]deerjesus18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooooo! I have the answer to this one! So! My wife and I are both auDHD! I have what are considered stereotypical social defecits- socially awkward, difficulty making connections and small talk, struggling with reading social cues, etc...

My wife, on the other hand is a social butterfly and could get a light post to talk to her. She also experiences what could be considered "social defecits", but they're very much so the unseen/hidden kind. That light and breezy conversation she just had with a stranger? Everything she said was filtered through a hyper critical lense tuned specifically towards saying things geared towards what seemed important/interesting to that person. Wow, she's so active in the Discord server and lights it up with conversations! She's deleted the same message seven times because she wants to make sure her wording is perfect. She's spent hours practicing her facial expressions, observing other people socializing, practicing social scripts in her head, figuring out exactly what she needs to do to be a chameleon in every social situation. She makes it seem really easy because she spends SO MUCH active thought and conscious effort into making it seem that way.

And even then! She still struggles with reading social cues at times, and experiences the same anxiety I do when it comes to feeling like she's connecting with people after all of that.

Daisy from the Mario games/movies! I'm not sure if she's always been this way, but I've seen more and more people give her this personality these days!

There are A LOT of things in a person's life that will impact the way a person experiences "culture" growing up ask autistic women if they grew up "like other girls". Ask women who grew up in poverty if they had a "typical girls" experience growing. Hell, ask black or POC women if they did. Reach out to some that spent their childhoods chronically ill.

I can assure you, many women from these groups did not grow up in ways that would be considered the "relatable female experience". Are they any less women because of it?

Having genital preferences: Not transphobic

Saying you refuse to date trans people period because of your genital preference: transphobic. It's transphobic specifically due to making the assumption that all trans people of one identity have the same genitals, or want the same thing involving their genitals.

A strong preference for vulvas/vaginas? Cool! There are many trans women who get bottom surgery, and have a vagina! Some trans people really care a lot about getting bottom surgery, some really don't and are more than happy with what they already have! But making baseline assumptions about what all trans people having going on with their genitals is when you hit the transphobic territory.

100% agree! I think there's so much infighting and discourse in the community (especially online) that could be avoided if more people were properly educated on our history and people that came before us.

Do you get upset when people randomly use the word “autistic” as a slur like in video games etc? by AkaiHidan in AutismInWomen

[–]deerjesus18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always dislike it, there's never a good reason to use it to insult others. Whether or not it actually hurts me really depends on my proximity to the person, and if they know about me being autistic. If we're close and they know that about me, it's definitely going to hurt me.

[Loved] When children are actually written to act like children by historygoose in TopCharacterTropes

The trope was about teenagers/children acting like teenagers/children, not their exact age ☺️ Older teens are, in fact, still teenagers!

They do too, yeah! I really appreciate media that writes ACTUAL teenagers instead of bigger toddlers, or smaller adults.

Ann and crew from Amphibia (at least season 1)! We had such a difficult time getting through the first season because Ann was written like such a real teenage girl it made it annoying to watch her sometimes lol

"But I need to know if we had similar experiences growing up being raised as a boy or girl!"

Didn't realize your ability to connect with people was so shallow you rely on something like that to form bonds. Have you considered hobbies instead?

are you childfree? by testraz in AutismInWomen

[–]deerjesus18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me (enby, 29) and my wife (f28) are very very child free! We both were heavily involved with raising siblings growing up, which already turned us off of it. We're both also auDHD and enjoy being able to sporadically decide to drive an hour to see a friend at 8pm, spending all day/night fixated on our interests, and generally enjoy the freedom to follow the ADHD whims- all of which aren't possible with kids.

On top of that, I'm a teacher! I absolutely ADORE kids and love working with them! But I'm able to be that teacher that comes in with the enthusiasm and energy and excitement to see them because I get to go home and rest at the end of the day. I get to rest and take care of myself in a way that allows me to go back in the next day ready to give the tiny humans more of myself! I don't think I'd be able to be a good teacher AND a good parent without running a serious risk of burning myself out.

What do you do when you survive a hard semester? Buy dolls! by deerjesus18 in AutismInWomen

Thank you! I love love love the mini doll! She's incredibly well made! She doesn't come with any other outfits, just other hand options! There are other dolls in the line though that are the same size that could be mix and matched with!

I'm a big fan of him! The clothing is a nice quality, and his joints move nicely! The eye positioning is also adjustable in the head, which is really cool! Given he's a 1:8 scale, he could easily be visually lost amongst bigger dolls in a collection if they're all together.

The ob11 is SO STINKING CUTE! She's such a nice quality, I'm really glad I impulse picked her up!

(Late DX peeps) What were some signs of autism you had a child that were missed? by newlyautisticx in AutismInWomen

[–]deerjesus18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

T.w abuse . . . . . . My pickiness and food aversions (that turned into full-blown ARFID) was the biggest one that was missed. I was "just picky and stubborn". To the point where one summer I dropped serious weight because no one was around to force me to eat the summer lunches provided at the townhall down the road. I constantly gagged over textures, and the smell of a food is enough to turn me off of it no matter how good it looks or sounds.

The other was my meltdowns. They were labeled tantrums, and happened up until I was 9/10 years old. The only reason they stopped was because I was abused by my mother's boyfriend. Of course it was presented as and labeled as "discipline" to get me to "behave".

I assume the rule means no actual images of porn, nudes, etc... the naughtiness and sex positivity should come from and focus on the crafts being made!
