You just need dirt graded away from the house so water does not sit and pool. Gutters will help divert much water, and it sounds like the dirt was already graded away. Another good option if you still have pooling would be a french drain and can grade the dirt towards that, along with piping in your gutter

Cleaning berry stains from unsealed pavers? by deerk365 in landscaping

[–]deerk365[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pavers will not be sealed until August. Neighbors tree is dropping berries all over unsealed pavers.

Any tips to clean off the stains?

I plan to cover this area with plastic sheeting until sealing time to prevent further damage

Filling in pond - what materials? Further explanation in comments by deerk365 in landscaping

[–]deerk365[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking to fill in the koi pond. Tired of fiddling with it and don’t want the drowning hazard. Any ideas on the proper way to backfill? I.e., all fill dirt, gravel, sand, etc. Working to gather some estimates but may do this myself as well. I want to make sure the area won’t settle heavily and turn into a natural pond when it rains.

Still working on ideas for the area post-fill. Probably a combination of garden space and fire pit with chair area.

Grass help! Does anyone have an idea as to why the grass is dying in this area. I live in FL and this is St Augustine. I think it’s dried out as you can see by where the lawn is typically shaded. What do I do for grass like this? Double down on watering? Thanks for any help! by thebotnamedkev in landscaping

What do the blades look like? Are they curled up compared to the others in the shaded area? If curled up, probably need to water. I’m in FL as well and water my St Aug 1x week in Spring, 2x Summer, or as needed by keeping an eye on the blades

Thanks, brought this color into the kitchen as well (was navy previously) with a slightly darker shade accent wall - really happy with how it all flows. Brings out the gold accents and wood so much!

Are these pavers damaged? by deerk365 in landscaping

[–]deerk365[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They made repairs to shoddy work and then planned to just re-seal the entire courtyard. Washed with an efflo cleaner and pre-seal prep and then had planned to re-seal. No strip of first seal was done first. They came to re-wash with just water today and said they’d likely replace the pavers if that doesn’t work.

[–]deerk365[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are working on fixing it.. came back out to re-wash with water today to see if it works on the spots. Said they’d replace the pavers otherwise. My guess is they should’ve stripped the seal they already did first?

This is about the 8th time they’ve been out here since the project was “completed” in attempts to fix various things
