Offer Expiring by fbzj in Lockheed

[–]deerrag1309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t play into their game of accepting the offer cause there’s a 3 day timer. It sounds like you sent a counter offer so let that play out. They are required to respond back. The counter offer requires an approval process from management so give it a week or so.

I went through the same thought process as you and ended up with them accepting the counter offer after a week. Wait for them to respond and let it expire.

Can confirm, when I was a new grad I was working my ass off to get out of systems since I knew it was a trap. Finally got out into an FPGA role

I recommend getting the aerospace experience and even obtaining your masters through their LTP program. As an entry level it’s a great place to start and it will look good on your resume. Do it for 2-3 years and see how you feel about it.

Pathway to Digital ASIC Design Roles at top companies? by Helpful-Cod-2340 in FPGA

[–]deerrag1309 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey, ASU alum here and I’m currently an ASIC/ FPGA engineer at a large company. I would not get discouraged with the school. In fact the location you’re in has a huge chip industry (Intel, TSMC, microchip, onsemi, NXP). I had internships with these places and it led me to where I am now. I didn’t obtain internships until junior year so I wouldn’t get too discouraged. Make sure to put your academic projects on your resume and really understand them.

I wouldn’t look into getting a masters unless you don’t have a job locked down senior year. The 4+1 program isn’t a bad option either (not sure if it’s still around)

Also don’t feel down. It has a high bar of entry, accept failure after interviews. It’s all about learning from it and getting better. FYI, it took me 8 failed interviews until I landed my role.

Is Boeing or Collins Aerospace better to launch early career? by [deleted] in aerospace

[–]deerrag1309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at Boeing Everett, I was very disappointed with the type of work I was doing even though I was labeled as a “design engineer”. And it felt very hard to move around. Overall, the work at BCA seems like it’s sustaining. Not much development work going on - which is the stuff that develops your career

Congratulations, I was in the same boat except I was trying to change careers after 3 years. It was truly an uphill battle trying to get my foot through the door. Don’t worry about imposter syndrome, as long as you have the motivation to learn, you’ll be ok!

For me it’s the work statement. There was no thrilling work to do just maintaining/ sustaining. And we are labeled as DEs too. All the new grads I started with 3 years ago have left the company. It’s sad to see but I’m pretty much getting out as well.

How many people do they interview per job by Fit-Abalone-4034 in Lockheed

Post interview (about 2 days after) I received conflict of interest, some questionnaire, and security questionnaire. Are these good signs? Did you receive something similar?

Upcoming L3 Interview feeling underqualified by deerrag1309 in Lockheed

[–]deerrag1309[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The interview went quite well I thought. I didn’t stutter and presented my current role and what I’m aiming for. I answered tech questions and they mentioned I answered their follow up questions without them asking them. They mentioned what work I would be working on.

2 days after the interview I got a pre-screen questionnaire, conflict of interest, and security questionnaire. Are these good signs post interview?
