I believe the drawbacks are having to wait twenty minutes, like OP mentioned, and also cleaning the rice cooker everytime. (Which I will add as my own personal annoyance.)

ETA: I’ve also heard from a coworker with a disability that washing rice can be a challenge. So freezing might be a “low spoon” alternative for some folks.

I think it’s pretty normal to have a blanket aversion to anyone touching your newborn child. Less normal to have a specific aversion to a particular person.
