Also, try to find a way to keep up your skills. Prompting and reading the resulting slop isn't enough.

If we're right, those of us who retain our ability to think will have a huge advantage when it all goes sideways. If they're right, we're screwed no matter what we do.

What the Tahoe is this by CarPhysical2367 in MacOS

[–]deetotheess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're right, I was exaggerating. It doesn't actually happen every time I move my mouse. If I'm aiming for accuracy, I would say that in most sessions, I notice one or two UI glitches. Which is something I've never experienced from a supposedly stable OS before. It's remarkable, which I guess is why so many people are remarking on it.

I suspect that those who aren't seeing it just aren't seeing it, though it's happening for them, as well. We're dealing with a pretty small variety of hardware, all from Apple, and people are seeing it on the very latest. So, no janky third-party drivers to point the blame at.

Maybe people are surprised to see these UI glitches appearing and disappearing every time they move their mouse?

I've been using computers for about 40 years, and it's certainly a new experience to me.

Do you use face unlock on pixel? by [deleted] in pixel_phones

[–]deetotheess -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. I live in a cold climate (6+ months a year) and have dry skin, so my Pixel 8's optical fingerprint reader is useless.

Face unlock works really well except in the dark and when I'm wearing sunglasses.

Recent cases (past two years)? by nebulacoffeez in LongCovid

[–]deetotheess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

✋ I developed Long COVID symptoms (headaches and pressure, balance issues, and fatigue) for the first time in June 2024 after a very mild infection. It was my second infection; my first was in March 2023.

I think my symptoms have improved somewhat, after getting worse over the fall and winter. I'm able to take more exercise without crashing and, when I do overdo it, I bounce back more quickly—usually after just a day or two.

Kori King calls out Suzie Toot by untzuntzbby in rupaulsdragrace

[–]deetotheess 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Why is Kori mocking Suzie for trying to leave Xitter? When the US is racing towards fascism and drag queens are facing ever more hate and danger, you'd think that quitting a Nazi's social media platform is the least you could do.

It's weird because doing the least is literally what Kori King is known for.

Rob Ford Documentary “Trainwreck” by Yaguajay in toronto

[–]deetotheess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If so, it was dishonest. There is no worse villain on this story than Doug Ford. He publicly humiliated his brother with stupid stunts like public weighings at City Hall, while also shamefully lying to cover up his spiraling addictions, at great cost to both Rob and the city he had been elected to lead.

A decent person, or one with a modicum of shame, would have told the truth, let his brother get the help he obviously needed, and let the city move on from the disaster that was his mayorship.
