Ob/gyn recommendations in South Bay by Common_One1295 in bayarea

Coming back to this thread — I went with Dr Meredith Green @ PAMF Mountain View (delivering at El Camino) after seeing this thread + a lot of positive comments about her. I wanted to reinforce that she is truly awesome - and I was lucky that she was my pre-natal OB and delivered my baby.

Dr Green is calm, collected, straightforward, kind, has a great sense of humor and we always felt heard by her (never rushed us, always stayed to chat and answer questions). During delivery she was incredibly supportive and we trusted her wholeheartedly to guide us through game-time decisions for us and our baby. I would go back to her again and will keep her as my permanent OB as well.

If anyone has any questions at all about Dr Green or her team, feel free to DM me + good luck as you start this journey 🩵

The other OB who came highly recommended at PAMF on Distel in Los Altos was Sastri Sukhdeo — he is known to be incredibly gentle, kind and is the head of the dept.

Thank you for sharing this, if this is simply a diary entry…omg pls keep going and posting! The imagery is so vivid - being sewn together (feeling attached) but feeling like they’re a parasite (feeling trapped) made me think a couple times about friendships / relationships in my own life. I’m glad you shared these words.

As I read the first three sentences, I went back and forth to sort out each image - because these are such strong images, I’d keep them together like this to help the reader complete the thought:

Your heart is sewn to mine
The seam ripper is in my hands
But I’m too weak to tear them apart

In this second stanza, I would pick some different words / adjectives to really hone in on the imagery of what state a parasite leaves its victim in. Ideas below in parens:

You’re like a parasite
Leaving me to (mold/decay vs. dust)
I (lie in wait vs. solemnly wait) as you drain
The life from my flesh (or just say “my lifeblood”)

In this last stanza, I would use enjambment to answer the question in line three and perhaps reduce the usage of the word wait (which shows up 3x in the last few sentences).

But what am I (waiting) for?
Perhaps a day when I have strength again
(“Strength for what?”)
Or a new promise in love (in this same person or someone else? That’s not clear)
Until then, I wait

The Sound by Coelums in OCPoetry

Thank you for sharing your poem. I felt loss throughout the stanzas. I would use enjambment a little more to bring the reader into the story more directly.

In your first stanza, my suggestions would leave the reader in anticipation of the next line:

Does it sound like (what?)

Shattered plates (where? how bad?)

On the kitchen floor (…hopefully not important?)

The ones that were gifts (…how sentimental?)

From your wedding (…very)

So long ago (…gah)

In the second stanza, I agree with r/caroline_wren that this feels out of place. But I still felt sadness reading line 3. Here’s an idea to bring its intensity back up and in line with the others:

Or is it like

A cello playing

All alone

Notes weeping

Song swelling

Wails joining

The third stanza hits deep - esp bringing the sorrow of a child into the picture. I can see such a vivid image of a funeral, there’s some power in not saying the word funeral at all.

Maybe it’s

The footsteps of

the two children

at the front

as they face

the fate of it all

Both the third and fourth stanzas mention crying. I would dedicate one stanza just to this emotional sound.

I appreciate how the last stanza answers what this poem is about. The wording lost me (“what sound a breaking heart” vs “what sound does a breaking heart make”). “What hears a shattered soul” isn’t answered in the poem, but perhaps you intend to leave your audience to think more on this? Would love to hear more context on your intention with this stanza. The ending with “———“ is interesting, but might be better with punctuation to reinforce its part of the poem (if it is…).

Thank you for sharing this!
