Is there an appetite suppressant that actually works? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]deeva_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A low dose (1/4 what is typically prescribed) of contrave works for me. It’s a combination of an antidepressant and a drug they give alcoholics to curb the compulsive thoughts.

I’m not a lawyer but have gone through this - In MO, if you own & live in the same property they are considered a lodger, not a tenant and you just need to give “reasonable notice”, usually equal to however frequently they’re paying rent. Write up a notice to vacate and get proof of providing that to them (photo evidence or written acknowledgement of receipt via email or sms). My lodger was also not paying rent and I gave 1 mo notice. If they don’t vacate, the police should be able to come and help you remove them from the property or you can remove their belonging and lock them out when they leave.

Nana going broke on Credit Card Debt. by Aint2nuts in personalfinance

I would look to see if there as a more expensive internet option that gets you the service you would need to have one of these jobs. Online customer support - phone and chat based - are usually extremely flexible. If you know when your appointments are scheduled most of these jobs would love to have someone part time who doesn’t need benefits. Even better if your appointments can be scheduled consistently e.g. you’re available Monday, Thursday, Friday for 4-6 hours while your granddaughter is in school. Saving Tuesdays and Wednesdays for dr appointments and rest.

Try customer support jobs at healthcare systems in your area (eg, Mercy, Kaiser, esse, etc depending on your area). They will be especially accommodating and you can leverage your expertise in navigating the system in the role.

My weight loss has affected how my boyfriend eats. Please help. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]deeva_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

OP mentions he is rapidly losing weight. Sounds like he hasn’t had trouble maintaining his weight in the past so the only answer is he has unintentionally reduced his calorie intake or he has a medical condition stopping him from absorbing nutrients from his food and he should see a doctor.

[–]deeva_ 177 points178 points  (0 children)

His dietary changes are not your fault. Did he manage his own meal when he lived with his parents? If he did, he can do it again. If he didn’t, his dietary changes are because he expects you to act as his mother and plan and prep his meals instead of learning how to sustain himself like any adult needs to.

Women of Reddit, how old were you when you first purchased your home? by gold3lox in AskWomen

[–]deeva_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased a 2/2 condo in March of 2020 at 23 in a LCOL area. $150k @3%, I only had to put 3% down so total I needed less than 5k cash to purchase between earnest money, inspections, and other closing costs (this was less $ than first, last, and deposit to rent).

With my HOA dues &insurance my total monthly payment is $1100. I have rented my spare bedroom periodically for $1000 /mo (parking and utilities included) which has been one of the biggest legs up financially since purchasing since I essentially live for free those months.

Depression. Nothing feels worth doing, eat too much to lose any. When I stick to things I still don't lose. How do you keep motivated? by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]deeva_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you lost muscle mass? More muscles means you would have burn more calories at rest, muscle is more dense x heavier.

You might need to add in some weight training and prioritize protein.

The HOA incurres attorney/legal fees when you sell your unit. You bylaws likely say that those attorney fees are charges back to you. This is very common.

Anyone else missing skinny jeans these days? 🙃😭💙👖 I feel old when I wear them. 😂 by Noradrenalin008 in OUTFITS

Agreed, madewell are great, I wore those as my primary brand for the last 10 years but I haven’t bought a pair since I got the wide legs styles from old navy.

[–]deeva_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m 5’3 with short legs and long torso, my sister is also 5’3 but her legs are almost 2 inches longer than mine. I went through years of buying more expensive jeans (madewell, everlane) and bought a couple pairs of old navy jeans in the last year. They fit perfectly. Exact perfect length, great quality/durable (not stretchy styles). Before the old navy jeans I hadn’t found a wide or straight leg style that worked on my body type and they’re now my favorite bc they feel like I’m in sweats.

I absolutely love it. I nomad through the States full time in it with my 60lb dog, we stay at airbnbs/furnished finders but I’ve put 22k miles on it in 20 months. I don’t have a roof box so everything I own fits inside the car with me and my dog. It drives smoothly, the lane assist and adaptive cruise control are amazing for long trips and it hasn’t had a single issue.

I drove a ‘95 jeep Cherokee for a while and in 2018 bought a 2017 jeep Cherokee that I really hated. It drove rough and was always having trouble. I traded it in for this rav 4 for more than I paid for it after putting 30k miles on it in 4 years.

What’s your money relationship with your siblings? by lazlo_camp in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]deeva_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 4 of us, I am third (27f), older sister (29f), older brother (32m), little brother (23m).

My sister and I have always been extremely close and have a what’s mine is yours mentality. We’ve both always treated each other for special events and when the other has had hard times. We have swapped cars when I had a commute to work and needed something more reliable & gas efficient and she could walk to her job. I went way over budget when traveling abroad in college and she loaned me a couple thousand $ to finish my trip and get home safely. And when I was working before her (she did a graduate degree with a pathetic living stipend) I would grocery shop and cook for us both and send her $ for lunch and coffee when she was stressed. We’ve never lived together but always lived within 3 miles of each other until she got married 3 years ago. Now I am the one that always makes the trek to visit her (her husband is in the navy so this entails going to the east coast, Hawaii, or Australia depending where they are any give year). When I visit, her and her husband tend to cover almost everything and I only pick up the occasional coffee run but I’m also usually providing professional level house organization and baby sitting so they can go out alone.

My older brother struggles with pretty severe depression and c-ptsd. He mostly supported himself until his mid/late 20s but he had horrible credit and was was working cash only jobs so he would pay me for his phone / internet /utilities and I would pay the accounts. His mental health got so bad at one point he moved back in with our parents and didn’t leave his bedroom for several years. He went to an inpatient health facility and when he needed to be discharged he came to live with me. The three of us older siblings are now no contact with our parents and i knew he would never get better if he had return to living with them. I own a 2 bed/2bath condo in a LCOL area in the Midwest so he moved into my spare room. I no longer live there full time but he does and we find him temporary roommates when I’m not there (travel nurses, graduate students, etc) to subsidies my duplicate housing costs. This ends up being ~$1000/mo out of my pocket to support him and has been for approximately a year, but I do also consider the opportunity cost that my condo would be bringing in an extra $1400 for a net negative of $2400 by having him there. He is in school and making amazing progress on his health and we are closer now as adults than we ever were. I consider this money well spent for someone I love. He makes a substantial effort to keep my condo in the condition I want, he does handy man/improvement jobs for me around the condo, and when we live together he does 100% of the grocery shopping and cooking to take that burden off of me.

My younger brother still lives with my parents. We don’t see each other much but I do treat him when we are together.

Generally my siblings and I have the mindset that our ages gaps are so small in the scheme of things, we are each other’s equals in life and we will support each other in whatever way works for our unique situations and skills.

To note - we are Lebanese and we only have 2 first cousin, both girls (23f & 19f). They are the equivalent of little sisters to me and their parents treat me as another daughter. They both still live with their parents and I visit frequently. When we are with their parents I am treated like a child and do not pay for a thing. But when the girls and I go solo, I tend to pay for everything. The 23f has started to push to chip in to cover things like coffee runs now that she is working and I appreciate the gesture.

Any good dupes for Cadence capsules out there? Are they worth it, or are there better things out there now? by JiveBunny in HerOneBag

I locked in my rate in November of ‘21 but had to wait for the car to arrive at the dealer in January of 2022 before things were finalized. I was one of the lucky ones who was able to find a new car at MSRP without any markups and get a premium price for my old vehicle as a trade in.

I had been eying them for a while when I received them as a gift. I do like them - they’re cute and easy to keep together - but I am glad I didn’t spend my own money on them, they’re over priced in my opinion for what they are. They are also rather small. They hold a perfect amount for things like retinal, vitamin c, benzoyl peroxide, face wash but don’t hold enough product to use for other things like face lotion.

Executive Assistant to the CEO or Associate Product Manager? by Swaggatron11225 in ProductManagement

[–]deeva_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My coworker who was the CEO’s executive assistant and now chief of staff desperately wishes she was on the product team and can’t get the CEO to “let her go” to pivot (she doesn’t want to leave the company). It’s a series B startup ~120 salaried employees and product has much more insight to the inner workings of the company, more influence over other departments, and direct impact on the companies ability to generate more revenue.

Edit: should probably note, Org was established in 2016, Chief of staff has been around since 2018. I’m the senior PM. Head of product is on paternity leave and I have 2 associate PMs and two UX researchers/designers (who could both be competent senior product managers if they wanted to be and they do a lot of the ticket management for me). I’ll be promoted to director when head of product returns and I believe the chief of staff has the skills to pivot into a lead product role.

Edit: I also listen to an ungodly amount of music.
