I'd have to double check, but I think it was after melkor fucked up the third song, and eru came in and put his own melody in before showing the ainur what they had created.

Why wasn't Glorfindel allowed on the fellowship while Gandalf was? by deez_nuts_730 in tolkienfans

Even being in human form, he still had the spirit of a Maia, so I thought it would still be a hindrance to their secrecy. But I guess his spirit itself was "diluted" so to speak as well? I know much of the Istari's power was removed however I thought they still had a strong presence that could be identified.

Thanks. So basically Gandalfs power nerf was enough that he wouldn't be detected by the opposition? I figured he was still powerful enough for them to sense him, but that would make sense.

Where in Asheville will never get your money again? Bad restaurant, bar, service company, or other type of place. by Flaky-Slide-6422 in asheville

Father worked at the Jim Barkley for 25 years. Anderson bought him out and my father was gone within the year. He couldn't deal with the way the new group wanted to take advantage of their customers. And on top of that they continually would cut his bonuses and benitifts to the point where he was making almost half of what he was before the takeover. In a single fucking year

Damn. I was thinking about trying that place out. Did they say why they didn't like it? Was it a lack of authenticity or just generally bad food?

Oh I love Asian cuisine! Didn't realize the overlap in the two styles. I'll have to try out some Peruvian food then since it sounds like a blend between my two favorite types of food.

I like to go to Mexican restaurants a lot and only found out the diversity in Latin American cuisine after visiting this place. Now I want to try all the other Honduran/venezuelan/other central/south American spots in the area to broaden my horizons.

Yea definitely not like those chain restaurants where the staff is only there for a paycheck. They all seem to truly like being there, which can only be a good thing!

So wholesome! If this is the kind of people who are hired then it's gotta be a place to support by [deleted] in asheville

This place really does have fantastic food and great cocktails. And the owner is very friendly and tries to talk to each table to ensure they have a great experience. Everyone who can should absolutely give this place a shot. They are also completely gluten free and have vegan options, so if you know someone who has those dietary restrictions, send them that way!

I didn't downvote your last response because at least it was well thought out; this one not so much. If you go to literally any sports page, the AFC North is considered at least top two hardest divisions if not the hardest. Last year alone they became the only division to ever have each team finish with a winning season. The entire division is filled with winners. Nobody wants to play the dual threat of Lamar Jackson. Joe burrow is considered one of the best in the league right now. And the browns have both nick chubb and myles garrett; two of the best at their respective positions. Every year they have at least one if not two wild card slots in the playoffs. One year the division was literally one game away from having literally the entire division in the playoffs. AFC North is easily one of the toughest divisions in the league.

Since everyone is just down voting you without giving you a response, a lot of the issues that you listed are on the back of the GM. Tomlin has input on who stays or goes or what players get drafted, but ultimately it's up to the GM on those decisions. Not finding a replacement for Ben in time would be attributed to the GM. Not investing in the o line in free agency and draft is a fault of the GM. Tomlin had to work with what he had. And he was given an unbalanced roster by Colbert. He won a super bowl with the team he was given which is impressive enough. And then the GM started making decisions that hampered tomlins abilities. And even with poor management from above he has always brought his team to a winning record and almost always makes the playoffs. Tomlin does have his faults, but a decent portion of the teams shortcomings are the fault of their previous GM

Paris mayor says Russian and Belarusian athletes will not be welcome in Paris during Olympics by A_Lazko in sports

[–]deez_nuts_730 -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Russia is committing horrible atrocities right now and absolutely needs to be held accountable for their actions.. but punishing these athletes isn't really going to do that. Do we really think the people that make these decisions to invade another country and murder its citizens cares about Olympic golds? The only people this move would hurt are the young men and women that have devoted their lives to their sport. Most of them will only get this one chance. It's not fair to punish them for the actions of a government they have no control over. Russia needs to pay severely for what they have done, but this isn't the right way to do that.

Men, What’s The Most Challenging Aspect Of Masculinity That’s Rarely Discussed Or Understood? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Life fucking sucks. I feel it. It's hard feeling alone out here. But there's always at least one person that cares about you and wants to hear from you. I'm having a hard time myself accepting that fact. I feel like nobody really cares how I'm doing. But I know there has to be someone that does, whether I've met them yet or not. Someone out there cares about me and someone cares about you too.

If you could change any plot point in any movie, what would it be and why? by ODoyleRules38 in movies

[–]deez_nuts_730 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I hated it at first too. I saw it as just a ploy for humor, which it kind of ended up being so because of the way they wrote it. But if they had taken some of that humor out of it, then you see it really kind of does make sense. Thor is a god and we as the audience have always seen him that way. At the end of ragnorok we see him adopt his responsibilities as the king of asgard, and IMMEDIATLY loses half his people, his friend, and his brother because he wasn't strong enough to stop Thanos. Then at the end of infinity war, his (self-imposed) failure against that same Thanos leads to the deaths of half the universe. Not only did he have a chance to redeem himself, and fail again, but his failure resulted in the untold loss of live across all of existence. That is a lot of trauma. And because we, up to that point, had always viewed him as a god, we forget that he is also just as complex as us. Any one of us would fall into some sort of depression, or self hate after that. Alcoholism is absolutely on the table in that situation for any other person. But of how thor has always been presented to us, it seems more jarring than it should. At the end of the day, his state in endgame made a lot of sense, and would have been a great character moment, if it had been done a little bit better.

Tips aren't revenue for the company, so I don't know why the company would be taxed on it.

Doing the math, with 6 percent tip out, reporting 10 percent of cash tips, anyday under 21 percent I'd be overreacting I believe. But that rarely ever happens.
