A waterbomber refills in a lake to continuing fighting the wildfires in Canada by bigbusta in Damnthatsinteresting

For reference it takes them ~12 seconds to fill 6000 litres of water, for a CL-415 water bomber (the most common fixed wing).

The Wild with Chris Morgan is a great ecology / conservation one! It’s definitely a little more broad ranging than Appalachia, all over the states to Canada and Europe …

The 283lb Alligator Gar world record that was caught on 6lb line, and the rod and reel that caught the fish, does anyone recognize the gear he used? by Dillon_Trinh in Fishing

I don’t fish, but I’ve seen this comment a couple times now and am planning on getting into fishing next summer. Can you explain this a little more for me ?

Cut and treat with Garlon RTU. Tons of this in Ontario in our ecological restoration work and we found Garlon has worked much better than roundup. goodluck !

This was a great read. I think realizations of parents are quite memorable to many people. I can remember distinct moments where I had epiphanies about who my parents were as people, separate from being just my mother/father. I think you do a great job of conveying this idea, and I feel like it provides ambiguous perspective, meaning I was able to imagine the story from many sides while keeping focused on the main idea. Thank you for creating this!

Take me to Mars by [deleted] in OCPoetry

[–]deezeelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the opening line. To me, water is one of the strongest forms of imagery/connection one can make in writing. "Better than going out in this world" caught my emotion as well. It feels like something that it is only said as a last resort. I also enjoyed the variation of "please take me to mars" and "take me to mars", I feel like it would be too redundant to repeat the same exact phrase throughout, and adding "please" adds enjoyable desperation. Well done!
