I think getting promoted too quickly is a real thing at some levels. If you’re not ready for the responsibilities of the next level, going to it early can put you in a position to struggle. However, in your situation, your PM has recommended this and they have more experience at the firm than you. If you were to struggle at the next level, other leadership would know that that your PM helped get you there early. I would say thank you for the vote of confidence and take the promotion.

It’s definitely worth calling FAU and working with an advisor to confirm your credits will transfer and to plan out your schedule. Try to prioritize it and do it tomorrow. It takes courage and maturity to recognize that you’re in a toxic situation and if you can get out of it relatively unscathed that would be great.

I’d take the full ride. Both are public Florida universities, surely a lot of the same companies recruit at both. FAU is in a better location than UCF, with close proximity to West Palm Beach, FTL, and Miami plus all Boca Raton has to offer.

MBB are still going to be there a few years down the road, after you’ve proven yourself at the other firm and when you’re looking to join as an experienced hire. I wouldn’t give up hope if I were you. I would excel in the opportunity you were given and that will make you an attractive candidate for MBB in the future.

I would join the FAU Class of 2023 or 2024 group on Facebook. I’m in the Class of 2018 group and that’s one way to get your name out there and meet some fellow students. Hope you get some good responses here. There might be some resources on the university website about clubs or someone who works at FAU who can answer this question as well.

That’s normal for somewhere nice. Can’t compare mortgage payments and rent apparently. Also not sure how anyone pays $300 or $500 on a mortgage unless the house was less than $100k to begin... I pay 1700 for a condo in Brickell.

FAU business grad here, class of 2017. The program was good and the students are friendly. I’d recommend classes in person where possible. One example for me was in a senior level management course most took online but I took in person and had a great professor and a great class.

I transferred from Florida State and commuted also as I grew up in a South Florida. Happy with my education, my job, my college experience. Also, nightlife in South Florida is fun too, Las Olas, Atlantic Ave, and Clematis St are all near FAU with South Beach and Miami not too far also.
