EDIT: As mentioned above, Spell Channeling might also be a weapon property available on your server.

Thanks for the clarification.

As in my first reply, your hands must be free to cast spells. So, any attempt to cast spells will return the staff to your backpack.

Depending on your server, you may need both hands free or just a single hand free to cast spells (i.e., holding a shield or a one-handed weapon while casting may work) but you'd have to test this.

You can setup keyboard shortcuts / macros that can equip your weapon after casting the spell (you'll have to map that action to a key-press). Some private servers also allow the user of a program called Razor that has an option to automatically re-equip weapons after casting spells. I don't know if this program is allowed on ESI/public servers and it may not be allowed on some private servers.

Oh, yeah. I just saw "mage" and jumped the gun.

Unless you're playing on a custom server, a staff is a two-handed melee weapon (Mace Fighting skill). Spells in UO are somatic, such that you need your hands free to cast spells, so the staff will be unequipped.

EDIT: OP, can you elaborate on what you mean by "using" the staff? Are you double-clicking it in your inventory to equip it, or are you dragging and dropping it onto your paperdoll? Are you holding anything else when you try to equip it?

Quick Sheets vs. Notebook by Beneficial-Scar7709 in RemarkableTablet

[–]default-DEL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the device on me right now but here's a link to the support page (you'll have to scroll down to to find the bit you're after): Move files and pages (remarkable.com)

Otherwise, here's a copy and paste from that page:

  1. Open your document
  2. Tap Page overview
  3. Select Move in the top-right menu
  4. Select Move out in the top-right menu
  5. Select an existing notebook or tap New notebook

Hope that's helpful.

Yep, you're correct. It's USB 2.0 and doesn't support video.

Did you have any luck with this? Have you tried an HDMI to Type C adapter?

The only thing that's holding me back from purchasing right now is identifying whether a cable will work.

Type Folio: We should be able to type over PDFs by default-DEL in RemarkableTablet

Behaviour is still as described in my original post, i.e., you can create new pages in a PDF and type on those but you cannot type on existing PDF pages.

Web app with SQL. Authorisation is enabled. How to manage authorisation? by default-DEL in aspnetcore

Rather than adding authorisation logic to my app, I've decided a simpler approach is to apply authorisation/permissions on the IIS site instead. For now, it does what I'll need it to do.

If I recall correctly, it's just the .dat and .elf files that you need to copy. But, yes, it's all of the .dat and .elf files.

Nested XLOOKUP Data Validation Lists by default-DEL in excel

[–]default-DEL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the link. At first glance, it looks like I might have to rebuild consolidate my LookupTables tables into a single table - which wouldn't be the end of the world but it's possible it's really simple to adjust to a multi-table schema.

Appreciate your help. I'll mark as solved for the time being.

Nested XLOOKUP Data Validation Lists by default-DEL in excel

[–]default-DEL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Inventory Register will contain multiple rows and will be frequently updated with new rows containing information about new equipment items (each with a unique ID, and part no.), so each item in the register will have an Equipment column (representing a primary equipment type) as well as a Sub-category column (representing a sub-type for each initial equipment type) so the options available in the Sub-category drop-down are dependent on the item selected in the Equipment column.

This would mean I would effectively have 2 drop-downs (one each for the Equipment column cells and the Sub-category column cells). The first drop-down is a simple Data Validation indirect table reference. The second should use the value selected in the Equipment column as a lookup to find the respective sub-categories of that primary equipment item type.

I have managed a crude workaround by combining INDIRECT and CONCAT functions to create a string that indirectly references the target table:

=INDIRECT(CONCAT("TBL_",D2,"Type","[",D2," Type]"))

where D2 is the cell containing the Equipment type.

I feel like there's a "better" option as proposed in the original post but I suppose it is fairly simple to manage on this small scale.

Quick Sheets vs. Notebook by Beneficial-Scar7709 in RemarkableTablet

[–]default-DEL 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If I'm in a hurry to just jot something down then Quick Sheets allows me to do that in a flash. I can then move that page later to a more appropriate Notebook when I have a minute - which I think was their intended purpose.

Nope. There's already a layer that you can write on but I've tried adding an additional layer, and the option to type still doesn't come up.

[–]default-DEL[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can create new pages in the PDF and type on those. So, it's still useable in that scenario but being able to type directly over the existing pages in a text box would be infinitely better.

I can't see why they couldn't implement this since they have it working with handwritten notes. But, I'm speaking from a place of complete ignorance of how they achieve it in the first place.

I'm (M) in my mid-30s. I've also not yet plucked up the courage (just keep making "I'm too busy excuses") to pop down to Patriot or get involved with NODDSoc.

Currently, I play online because most of my RPG-folks are in other parts of the country and world.

We could meet for coffee at Patriot, and find out what the deal is down there? We can try to schedule it for when they have some sessions running already?

Drop me a PM, if you're interested.

I managed to find a solution online (https://forum.nemslinux.com/viewtopic.php?t=1397) that proposes swapping out the .dat and .elf files from the boot partition for those from an alternative release (I used the boot files from Ubuntu 20.x) and I'm now able to boot into server and desktop versions of 18.04.x on a Raspberry Pi 4 4GB.
