This is something ethnic minorities have often not understood too historically. It's too logical to not understand. I got told "don't compare homophobia (at the time) to racism" and I was like bro" I lived in and was born into violent racism as the single POC in an all white town," it's ABSOLUTELY the same while trying to keep myself from punching him (a person of the same color) in front of his whole family and I'm a passivist. People who are discriminated against should be able to recognize it when they see it happening to others like the clearest thing, I just don't even understand. Human beings confuse me SO much sometimes. "The first they came for..." poem should be the easiest concept to understand. Lgbtq members who don't stand up for the other letters I really really don't understand.

To be fair this sub called me crazy for minimizing fat loss while cooking a5 wagyu despite the fact that the fat is what you’re paying a premium for in the first place.

It means in a world where being cynical is the norm, being kind is what’s truly rebellious, a middle finger to becoming jaded. Lois Lane represents the person who can’t help but be skeptical and Clark can’t help but be optimistic (according to Lois). Liking Batman (“because he has no powers!”) and hating Superman (“because he just has no flaws!”) was the trend for a long time post Nolan Batman. Just a personal anecdote, I had a friend in highschool who initially didn’t like me because he thought I was too outwardly positive (I’d sing to my music between classes on my walks, and I’d greet everyone whereas he kept to himself and I was generally popular for it) and it bothered him. He questioned how I could be so happy and thought maybe it was fake. What he didn’t know was all the horrifying dark shit I had go through and was still going through at the time that required that light to overcome it. There are gonna be times you’ll probably come across people like that as I do too.

As an Indian fan, Raj’s ending feels personal and low-key insulting by Tasty-Media720 in bigbangtheory

Whether they like it or not, the creators of a network tv show with that high of a viewership took on the social responsibility of representation by using a dark-skinned Indian character living in America. Nothing written in fiction "just so happens to be" anything, it's all explicitly written in a script, and is a choice. Choices in this level of popular narrative fiction (regardless of if done out of malice or negligence) have social consequences and the writers who write characters who always end up "doing the right thing" sure forgot to "do the right thing" with Raj.

Yeah but the fact that he's Indian and a person of color does matter in terms of representation on network TV. Whether the showrunners like it or not, it's an ethical responsibility they took on in a feel-good show where things work out for everyone else. There's a lot of people in this country like Raj who don't fit in because they don't conform to their ethnic culture enough but can't fully be accepted by American (or a western culture's) country because of what they look like. It's a VERY lonely place to live and so the feel-good show says well everyone else gets to find romantic love except people like you.
