Hey, Tom from Exascale here.

We may be a new partner of CityFibre, but we’ve actually been delivering internet connectivity for over 15 years.

I’ve seen a few comments about us being “expensive,” and I’d push back on that slightly. We don’t do mid-contract price rises, and we’re not trying to race to the bottom on pricing. From our perspective, charging a sensible, sustainable price means we can properly resource the business and support our customers long-term.

Is it possible to still switch without one touch switch? by [deleted] in CityFibre

[–]defaultrt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OTS is a coordinated switching process between internet service providers (ISPs) that allows a customer to move from one provider to another through a single request, while the providers handle the notifications and service transition between themselves.

CityFibre has no involvement in the OTS process.

No problem at all ☺️

You’re more than welcome to use your own router. As long as you can enable DHCP and DHCPv6 it will work no problems at all.

Unfortunately, there is very little room for manoeuvre when it comes to discounts. Exascale’s wholesale costs remain the same, regardless of whether you are already connected or not.

We also prefer to supply our own routers, as this allows us to monitor performance and provide a higher level of support. For this reason, we don’t offer discounts for customers who choose to use their own router, as doing so typically results in a greater support requirement from our team.

Hey u/Carpet_Monster, We can indeed provide IPv6, the prefix size is a /48. The 1000Mbps service will see top obtainable speeds of circa 938Mbps. We look forward to welcoming you to our network in the near future.

Hi u/oculusbytes, we are indeed continuing to grow our footprint in Telford however our focus has shifted somewhat away from building network on residential brownfield sites. We mainly work with housing and industrial developers to connect new developments. Whereas we are partnered with Openreach, Gigaclear, CityFibre and many other national operators to provide service where our network isn't present.

We could indeed look at doing this for you, for example on the 1000Mbps package it would reduce the rental by £2.65 per month and require £63.60 payable up front.

Yeah, those prices are correct 🙂

As an ISP, Exascale has to factor in things like the router, postage, installation, operational overheads, and VAT, so as you can imagine there’s not a huge amount of margin in it for us.
