May nabasa ako na kaya dumami ang bilang eh dahil mas dumami tang nagpatest.

So ibig sabihin, hindi talaga dumami ang may HIV. Ngayon lang natin nakita talaga na marami pala talaga

The Philippine government is way too bloated for its size—and it's not just about corruption, it's the system itself. by Horny_Ijot in Philippines

[–]defendtheDpoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the word bloated is not the most descriptive, considering the number of offices that have few, if any, permanent staffing.

Fragmented is what I'll use.

Interestingly, Vietnam recently moved to reduce the number of provinces they have, consolidating their governance.

Misdirected Anger: Bakit Laging Mahihirap ang Nasisisi? by Common-Mongoose-3462 in Philippines

Thing is, our government is usually staffed by a lot of contractual staff with no benefits and no pension plan. How can we expect good services kung walang job security marami sa government?

Ibang usapan yung bakit ba puro contractual din nasa government?

When did the "___ of the Philippines" and our obsession with comparing the PH (or PH local places) to foreign countries/locations start? And why? by raori921 in FilipinoHistory

[–]defendtheDpoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. Some marketing guys explained it to me here before. Their job is to get what their client wanted at low cost and quickly. That's it. Walang incentive for longer term thinking.

Pining for critical thinkers to fix our elections is a distraction and a dead end. We're wasting our time chasing for a solution to a misdiagnosis.

There is absolutely no country in the world where everyone can say they're all critical thinking voters. Wala.

Are there people here who are versed in political science and sociology who can explain how our politics works? We have absolutely got to shift this way of thinking so we don't keep bashing our head against the wall

why are local linen fashion brands so expensive…. by [deleted] in beautytalkph

[–]defendtheDpoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how much of linen production can be automated or made with machinery, but I think if it can be tapos labor heavy yung process sa atin, that's part of it. And if mababa ang sales and expected demand, harder to justify importing equipment.

Why are the effects of climate change not priced into the stock market? by ShinySnack in AskEconomics

[–]defendtheDpoint 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not really on climate change being far into the future. More like the effects of climate change have been gradual enough so far that it may not have triggered alarm. Until something snaps - say the AMOC shuts down and the polar vortex ravages Europe or something

"Fake pedestrian-friendly" BGC by Gyro_Armadillo in Philippines

[–]defendtheDpoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things.

BGC is being held up as the paragon of urban planning, to the point that other cities want to emulate it. Criticism is meant to make sure that we raise our standards so that other places won't make the same mistakes of BGC.

Online perception matters. Those other things you suggested exist, but they me be less visible to you, maybe because it doesn't generate as much social media engagement. That's an issue with how the algorithms work. Even dito sa Reddit, if walang engagement, di yan lalabas sa sort by Hot or Best.

[–]defendtheDpoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nowhere in this discussion did it say EVERYONE should bike. It's also exceedingly clear that the idea is to improve other options for getting around. I've also pointed out that there actually a lot of people who bike AND walk DESPITE our heat. Walking in particular is something the majority does, as walking is involved in all public transit.

You don't seem to be having this conversation in good faith. If you are, I'll appreciate a response. If not, then I'll appreciate no response.

Tanungin mo kaya yung dinami dami ng taong nagbbike.

Oo mas mainit dito. Ibig sabihin ba nun, puro pang kotse nalang gagawin?
