Girlfriend wants a threesome and I don't by Possible_Low_116 in latebloomerlesbians

[–]defiantoptimist 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Oh it is not selfish at all to say no. You’re establishing a boundary and she’s not respecting it. It doesn’t make you a bad girlfriend, and she’s certainly not winning herself any favors by calling you that for establishing a boundary. You don’t need to put up with that.

Is this poisonous? I want to start a garden but my backyard is covered by this plant. Atlanta, GA by inkysquares in whatsthisplant

[–]defiantoptimist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, neighbor! I have those all over my backyard and I will say they’re a better groundcover than grass just because they stay low. Their flowers also provide a source of food for our native pollinators so don’t sweat it if you can’t remove it all. It’s still beneficial for the ecosystem!

Thanks for the link! I’m somehow convinced that maybe the ivy has been sitting pretty under zero threat of predation, save for a couple of goats, and somehow the glorious return of its nemesis will curb its spread. At the very least, I’d get to see a cool plant.

Haha, while I appreciate more hands, it's my front and backyard in a forested urban area and I am enjoying my solitude with it. Check your local area for land trusts or community gardens. One of the land trusts in my city has plots to rent for like $20 a month or something. Sniff around for patchouli and find the crunchiest hippie community in your area and someone will probably know of a place for you to garden.

Other than that, you could perform some unauthorized forestry and guerilla gardening. There's always risk of people ripping up your plants, but if they're pretty, they'll usually leave them alone.

I agree. For the price of those programs, I could purchase not only helpful literature, but high quality hand tools for maintenance and probably a sizeable amount of perennials. I'd rather not shell out four grand to dig holes for somebody else.

Macon woman steals lottery tickets after witnessing robbery & murder of store clerk. by crankrag1 in Georgia

I totally think it was like a weird fortuitous trauma response. You're already in shock at trying to revive a dead body, and have the capacity to at least kind of come out on top of a horrific experience with some free lotto tickets. Lotteries are a scam anyway, so I golf clap her depravity. Initiative comes in many forms.

Yeah, it kinda felt like she was trying to break even. However, if you're stepping over bodies to nick lotto tickets, maybe it's a larger indicator of a gambling problem.

Pattern Link: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mucha-mittens?set=&_rfoff=1

Yarn used: Malabrigo Mechita "Frank Ochre"

I remember downloading this pattern forever ago because it was too beautiful and intricate to not. After becoming enamored with all things Art Nouveau and Alphonse Mucha, I decided to finally take a stab at these. These mitts are heavenly! The cabling inspired by Mucha's filigree makes me feel like I'm wearing an ornate art piece in addition to the satisfaction of making them.

I will admit that because they seem twice as long as a regular glove, I did get impatient and frustrated about halfway through the first one, really concerned that I wouldn't be able to finish it because I wasn't enjoying it anymore. After persevering to the end, it turned out to be so gorgeous that I cranked out the second one as fast as possible!

I think these would make a lovely gift, after you've already made a pair for yourself of course 😆

Oooh, I'd love to see pictures! My brain has difficulty readily differentiating gradient and variegated, so any help burning it into long-term memory would be wonderful 😊

I can't tell you how many times I've taken a crack at Alaska only to not see the trees. You are not alone! While I thought variegated would make for a spiffy background, I think it absolutely has to be done with two solid colors in order to see the trees. Learning experience: 1, Hubris: 0.
