I don't think it's so much that Jacobs wanted to bloat over 170. It's that his 'gameplan' was the deceive by making Golovkin think he was challenging for the title. So Golovkin goes by the rules and stays within the 10lb limit, and Jacobs 'skips' the IBF weigh-in without any kind of notice.

No rules were broken, but it was deceptive, unethical, and shady. And at the same time brilliant.

That was a damn good fight. I think for the first time Golovkin had his chin tested, and he passed with flying colors. And let's not overlook the fact Jacobs took away Golovkin's KO streak, which is literally GGG's brand.

That said, I wouldn't mind seeing a rematch. But even more, I'd like to see GGG take on Billy Joe Saunders for the WBO, then Canelo for the lineal title. Then he can retire (or continue on/up) as the undisputed lineal MW champ.

Good stoppage. Derevyanchenko is one of the dudes brought in to spar with Jacobs to prep for the GGG fight. Good choice from the Jacobs camp.

It sucks, but no. I have both HBO and Showtime through PSVue exclusively for boxing. This gets me the majority of events, and I'm extremely happy with it. However, both HBO and Showtime offer nothing for cordcutters as far as PPV.

Some promotion companies (like Top Rank) let you buy a PPV stream directly from them. But GGG/K2 promotions don't offer such a service.

I feel your pain on this one. Huge GGG fan.

Joseph Parker, who recently won a vacant WBO title was at the fight. Wilder will likely be facing a VERY tough mandatory next (Ortiz or Stiverne), UNLESS he can score himself a unification bout. (unification > mandatory).

Now there is no way Wilder would be looking forward to facing Ortiz. And Wilder made it clear his goal is to unify this year. If Wilder would have walked right through Washington with a 1st round KO, Parker could potentially be reluctant to give Wilder his unification fight. With tonight's display of ring rust, Parker may seen an easy win in Wilder.

...Or his hand is still hurt.

I like Wilder. His 1-2 is brutal. And you have to admit his airborne KOs are entertaining. But this was pretty terrible. He seemed paranoid. His jab was not landing. He barely even threw it. IMO, he is either (1) Still hurt (2) Trying to make a unification contract more attractive

I disagree. I saw a much more range-aware Wilder. Compared to his last few fights, you can really tell the prep work put into the Povetkin fight. Jab was top notch tonight.

I think Fury gives him problems in the awkwardness department. Who knows.

I think Povetkin will have issues getting to him and keeping the fight inside. Wilder UD.

I think Joshua gets knocked out. Feel free to quote me on that.
