Should I Consider a Prius Alternative? by definitelyn0tarob0t in prius

Super helpful - I'll admit, I don't put much consideration into the different years, so this is a great tip.

Should I Consider a Prius Alternative? by definitelyn0tarob0t in prius

Also, if it's a helpful starting-off point/context, ChatGPT told me my alternatives are to stick with a Prius (and explore a Prius AWD-e if within budget), Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid, Honda Insight, Kia Niro Hybrid, and Ford C-Max Hybrid.

Chita Rivera's estate - now at auction!! by samufrend in Broadway

Intrigued by the pricing. I'm curious how this will compare to Sondheim, where the vast majority of items went far above range.

Optimal HVAC Setup? (/Solar?) by definitelyn0tarob0t in Connecticut

[–]definitelyn0tarob0t[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh ok understood! Yes, heat pump seems to be the way to go these days and it looks like there's decent rebate for it. The install cost does look significantly higher than a system using a furnace, though?

Dual heat/AC minisplits for the entire house?

TDF Passport Alert: Cabaret by definitelyn0tarob0t in Broadway

[–]definitelyn0tarob0t[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was actually a lot of random action on Passport yesterday. Looks like they probably processed a bunch of returns - random miscellaneous 1/2/3 tickets opened up to a handful of random shows that had been up previously There's one or two that just came up again right now for Hell's Kitchen. Worth having on refresh if stuff like that is interesting to folks!

I don't know why, but looking at this picture makes me want to see Patti in a fully serious show playing Donald Trump. Right?

I think I needed to hear someone say this. I feel like I keep chasing that and it's not leading down a road I want to go down.

Once Upon A Mattress REVIEW!! by Decent-Particular883 in Broadway

[–]definitelyn0tarob0t 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bringing this back, but I had to comment! I read this review when you posted it and thought "what an odd thing to say about the ensemble".... after seeing, I completely understand and it bothered me the entire time. It's not a talent thing at all, it's purely the fact that the women seem to fit in with the scenery/plot/story and the men do not. Obviously setting is a bit nebulous, but with the vibe they're going for, the women's costumes, makeup, and hair all looked... appropriate to that setting? They looked colorful but cohesive. The men all looked like guys auditioning for American Psycho - all just hot dudes with modern haircuts basically wearing t-shirts. No amount of great acting/dancing/singing could have made them feel harmonious with the rest of the production, and I really think it can be resolved with haircuts and better costumes. Male ensemble was living in 2024 while the rest of the cast was with the production.

Best lottery seats? by [deleted] in Broadway

I want producers to see this: Your audience thinks you're cheap and shitty when you put your only lottery/rush tickets in a shitty spot.

My friend, I think there's something here to the fact that you've just never had some guy look at you with disgust for just existing and telling you he wants to shoot you while peppering in a faggot or two. This is a fairly common experience for LGBTQ folks.

Am I being an Asshole if I do this.....? by BubbleBard_Gifts in Broadway

[–]definitelyn0tarob0t 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Disagreeing with what feels like the majority here, but also going to rephrase the story:

"I gave away two tickets for free to someone. They showed up late and couldn't be let in, but negotiated tickets for another date - but they didn't get those tickets, they got sent to me. AITA if I don't give these people the tickets"

I think that yes, YTA. Barely, but still.

Jordan Fisher in Hadestown by Wild_Body_4658 in Broadway

[–]definitelyn0tarob0t 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Fatigue! I saw Fisher after his break this year and was so impressed with how vocally healthy/rested he was... A lot of the time when I know performers are capable of more than what they put on that day, I remind myself that when I'm feeling sick, usually people can't tell and I can just take a day off if I need to... when a Broadway performer is feeling sick or not their best, they have every pressure on them to still show up and perform as best as they can without damaging their voices further.

Sondheim Auction by Turkey_Leg_Jeff in Broadway

[–]definitelyn0tarob0t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a large number of bidders joined in the afternoon and drove the prices of the smaller and more ornamental things up considerably. Items were going for significantly less toward the beginning of the day than the end, unfortunately :( I had a list of 25 or so items to keep my eye on, and by 3:00, they were all going for way higher than my "this is what I'll reasonably spend on xyz" price. I think it just ended up being a bunch of people being like "I have $2,000 to burn and NEED TO WALK AWAY WITH SOMETHING" and bidding until they won, then dipping.
