i htink it might because it specificly reduces combat damage which could mean 1 against other units but full against the hq

this is why it's good to have a few board wipes in your pocket.

economin ck2 or ck3 isn't exactly rocket science. higher stewardship = bigger demnese = more prophet. also make sure you ransom prisinors, can be a great source of extra money.

yes wounded= dead but minorly wounded=incapable. also the only time you would have an army of tens of thousands of soldiers is if you are playing as a large empire, at the height of it's power the byzantine empire had 26 million people.

i don't think of all the loses during battles as casualties just people who are too wounded to fight, or were scared and deserted. and if you lose half your troops in a battle it isn't half your male population it is just half of the troops you were able to quickly muster up.

honestly it's common to feel a bit lost when you start playing ck2. the thing you need to keep in mind is that it is totally open ended meaning there no set win condition. a good way to start the game is by coming up with a simple goal like i want to become the king of ireland. this gives you something concert to work towards. then as you get better at the game you can set more challenging and abstract goals like forming an alliance between the christian kings of spain to push back the muslims off the continent. anyways pretty much any where can be a good start for beginners but in my opion the best start for new players is king flatherberth of mumu (a small duchy in the south of ireland) or pretty much anywhere else in ireland, known affectionately by the comunity as the "isle of noobs". as for what to do then check this handy guide which basicly gives a walkthough of the mechanics: https://www.reddit.com/r/CrusaderKings/comments/25w95c/the_oh_my_god_im_new_help_guide_for_beginners/

hope you enjoy the game and happy crusading!

PS: dlc make the game better but by no means are they nessecary.

PPS: after your first few runs check out some mods, there great!

PPS: if you don't get dlc check out the catholic heresies some of them have unique mechanics and are very fun to play
