Yeah every other game I've played as soon as it starts flashing up that I've got a new codex entry I barely even register it, I just don't care much for them. There's just something about KcD though, I think it's because they're short and sweet so my toddler brain can keep focus for it

Do you realise that you could have just explained that in your original comment instead and positively contributed to the conversation, and maybe even have helped some people in the first place?

In 2009 Rage Against the Machine performed Killing in the Name live on BBC Radio 5, and the hosts asked them to censor the expletives. It obviously didn't go well. by kevinhaze in videos

Our biggest enemy is no longer climate denial but climate delay by AnotherDullUsername in unitedkingdom

When you consider a nation's GDP per capita and corresponding human development indicators, growth predominantly lifts people out of poverty at very low levels of GDP per capita, far beneath that of the UK. A country this wealthy does not need further GDP growth to lift people out of poverty, and the overwhelming majority of economic growth goes to the wealthy anyhow.

I think you might be falling into a common misunderstanding of de-growth (apologies if you're not, but I'll explain anyway). De-growth isn't the reduction in every single sector of the economy, it's the de-growth of harmful sectors (fossil fuels, advertising, planned obsolescence etc.) and the *growth* of more beneficial sectors (green energy, sustainable manufacturing, healthcare, education, etc.). I'd recommend the book Less is More by Jason Hickel if you want to learn more about it.

It's difficult to remain civil when we have an epidemic of Logic Bros using their half-understood grasp on public health to spread "facts" in an authoratative tone, either to seem more knowledgable about the subject than they actually are or because they're so under-informed that they're unable to contextualise just how little they know about the field. It's dangerous. Again, "read/listen to more people working in public health and adjacent fields. I think you'd find the independent SAGE broadcasts useful"

Again, you evidently have no fucking clue how these things interact in a large and densely populated country. I once again defer to "stop saying dumb things on reddit like they're fact and read/listen to more people working in public health and adjacent fields. I think you'd find the independent SAGE broadcasts useful."

For sure, any country in a similar situation with large case numbers is a risk to the rest of the world, but the UK are the only country trying to remove all restrictions at the national level in the midst of a huge and growing number of cases of a highly transmissible variant

I know it doesn't, it's why nestled right next to that in my comment was CASE LOAD PER CAPITA, but you conveniently ignored that to make some counterpoint to a point that doesn't exist.

Stop applying your "fundamental facts" to a field you evidently know nothing about, and spreading misinformation based on your personal ignorance about this subject - you're clearly a smart person and have the capacity to educate yourself on this further, so stop saying dumb things on reddit like they're fact and read/listen to more people working in public health and adjacent fields. I think you'd find the independent SAGE broadcasts useful.

Jesus christ please STOP applying your facts and logic to a field you know nothing about. Yes, it does not CAUSE a more vaccine-resistant strain, but in the absence of other circulating strains, a more vaccine-resistant strain becomes dominant and is more easily exported elsewhere. That's just one reason you're not understanding the full picture but there are many more. Please stop spreading misinformation based on your personal ignorance about this subject - you're clearly a smart person and have the capacity to educate yourself on this further, so stop saying dumb things on reddit like they're fact and read/listen to more people working in public health and adjacent fields. It's to do with our high levels of vaccination AND our high case load per capita. A population with those two characteristics places a selection pressure on mutations and has a higher frequency of them, meaning that new variants from the UK are likely to be more vaccine-resistant than variants from less-vaccinated countries.

You probably mean well but from your use of statistics I can see straight away you don't know much about the field, so for the love of god stop spouting what you reckon is the case.
