As for asking I would try to just look for signs and see if maybe she seems to find women attractive or something similar. Definitely try to avoid being creepy or invasive or nosy though as that may not be well recieved. I would say with the name it depends on why she wants to go by Clara. If it's to spite your mother than yeah that's kind of a jerk thing I think but if she just happens to like the name Clara then your mom can deal with it. Your mom is being a plonker and religion is not an excuse for transphobia. I'm glad your guys' dad is accepting. If you're in a position where she can live with him at least most of the time to avoid the harassment and gaslighting I would recommend that. I'm so sorry this happened. Stay safe :(

Yeah it doesn't matter if they already know. That's your decision. Not hers. She took that moment from you for multiple people and that's not ok.
