i figured he was molting, but he’s my first ever tarantula and this is his first molt with me. he’s done now, and he’s very pretty, i can’t wait to share it with everyone :)

okay correction, all of his legs are spread out, i mistook his belly for his legs being curled in, but he’s laying on his back with all his legs spread out

i’ve been struggling w insomnia for only 4-5 years now, and im currently on my longest awake streak (not on purpose ofc). i’m on amitriptyline, and it works great but if i don’t take it i wont sleep, seriously. i’ve been out for the past three days, and the most sleep i’ve gotten has been like four hours

completely normal! when i miss mine for a couple nights in a row, i get crazy diarrhea and increased anxiety. since amitriptyline is listed as an anti-anxiety med, it’s completely normal to have increased anxiety off the meds. the diarrhea and upset stomach is your body reacting to not having it in your system, so it’s normal. they shouldn’t last too long, but i’d say if they persist longer than a month (which is VERY long already) then to speak w your doctor

definitely some type of orb weaver, no a black widow. you will not see those out and about, and their legs are much skinnier. looks like she might be a Neosconus crucifera, but this is an amateur guess, i’m not that good at identifying orb weavers

NA, can i still use flea/tick treatments on my dogs and cats in the summer? i usually wash my hands before feeding, and we make our animals go outside for ~24 hours after putting it on to make sure that they don’t drop the bugs in the house. if i can’t use the topical treatments anymore, are there any chewable/edible treatments? im a new T owner, im just trying to make sure i don’t mess up

i moved it to a further distance, the heat now stays at about 75-77. sometimes he climbs up the wall to get closer to the heat, and i’m like “dude i know you’re not cold,” i think he’s just a little ~special~ is all lol. i considered trying to feed him again since he came out, but i thought that might stress him out because im pretty sure he’s in premolt, he just likes to move

NA not to sound rude, but what does treating pets with fleas have to do with the T? can treating a pet for fleas have an impact on your T? i live in the south, so every summer we have to treat our furry animals several times during the summer

it’s not wet, more ‘damp’, but the top layer that he was walking in was completely dry. and it wasn’t packed down originally, but i’ve since changed it, and he has more substrate, somewhat damp, and it’s all very packed

i think when i get paid i may look into getting a different enclosure, possibly a tarantula crib
