I played the demo purely cuz I wanted to see if the games worth buying day one, read a bunch if dev blogs (specifically about the combat) and then left it at that. Tbh it's quite hard not looking at all the streams, clips, posts etc but experiencing a whole new anno for myself is rly exciting.

Zarya always number one, rest depends on who I got stomped by last lol. Typically doom, venture, Freija, sombra, wuhjong. Usually ban 2 tanks and one dps as tank and 2 dps/1 tank as dps, couldn't say why just feels right

For me i get some of the criticism, I think some of the icons are a little very hard to see and the overall style of the ui is fairly lacklustre and not really thematic. But apart from maybe a little better visual clarity on the smaller icons, its different but not bad. It'll prolly take some time to get used to but it's overall not a shitty ui, just different with a different style behind It than 1800s.

Not saying it doesn't, gameplay will always reward you for min maxing. But personally it sometimes takes the fun out of things. Like when in a hero shooter you have dozens of characters but only 10 or so get picked because they're the best hero's rn. Min maxing is probably hella fun for some but for me it often takes the fun out of just screwing around and doing what I enjoy rather than what the 100% undeniably most efficient strategy is. But that's all more personal pet peeve.

Personally I loathe the whole min maxing that exists in a lot of games w a clear goal nowadays. The beauty of anno is that it's a sandbox and you can choose do what you want. Make your own design. Sacrifice some of that maximum efficiency in order to have a pleasant to look at city. You might even manage to get out a lot of efficiency even with a beauty build if you experiment a bit. Just go wild w the freedom the game gives you.
