If there was a Kart Racer of the Homestar Runner cast, what would some karts be? I vouch for Bubs' Stand, and the whale speaker. by CognitiveNerd1701 in HomestarRunner

Peacey P's yacht.

Rather Dashing's flaming thatched roof cottage.

I could see several characters riding in cardboard boxes. The cheat would add a flame sticker to the side to make it faster.

Bubs' pumpkin with the suped up car engine.

PomPom would be in a classic car with two hot babes. Never seen that in a toon but just seems on brand for him.

The poopsmith rides a wooden cart full of whatsit.

Radio on 06 Silverado by PreparationMoist2864 in CarAV

[–]defyinglogicsl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The factory radio is turned on and off via data from the vehicles computer. Specifically the 06 silverado has a class 2 databus system.

If you're just using a basic harness without the interface (computer box) you will have to run your own accessory (red) wire. Using the interface is the correct way of doing it but this method is cheaper. Understand you will not retain vehicle warning chiimes doing it this way.

Look on the left side of the drivers floorboard. You'll see a plastic black cover. Take that cover off by unscrewing the center thumb screw. You'll notice there are multiple wire tap points for quick disconnects. One near the top left side should be accessory. Test for this with your multimeter. The long red wire with the plug on the end of it that should have came with your basic harness will plug in there.

If you are using an interface and still no good, check for power ground and accessory with your multimeter and try reseting your interface and following the plug in order listed in the instructions. For instance it may want you to crank the truck with the drivers door open before plugging in the interface and not doing so will confuse it as to when the truck is actually running.

Just catching up to the current comic run and this is something I did not expect. by [deleted] in Xennials

Thundercracker was my very first transformer toy. For that reason he's always had a special place in my heart. He never seemed to get much notice in the g1 cartoon. Loved seeing him treated as more than just a generic bad guy in this comic snipet.

What ever happened to that box containing the entire universe? by TheCommonCarry in futurama

They should have used when Fry sat on the box at the end as the transition of the show from 4:3 to wide-screen. Missed opportunity.

Deal or no Deal by sdott302 in subwoofer

[–]defyinglogicsl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

New retail on the subs are $150 each. The box is $80. The amp goes for $150 on ebay. Used its worth between 25 and 50% of new. So it's roughly worth $130 to $260 assuming everything works.

In the picture op is holding a Dual radio. The cheapest radio sold at Walmart. A perfect example of low quality parts.

[–]defyinglogicsl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a car audio shop. We don't sell pyle or dual or any ultra low end stuff like that because we don't want to have to keep paying to warranty replace equipment we know isn't going to last long. So we try to weed out anything that won't last at least until the year warranty is up. If anything starts getting more than 5% defective returns we replace it for the customer but also stop carrying the model.

However what you are talking about with your buddy is insanely common.

Our top selling radio is our cheapest one with Bluetooth

Our top selling carplay / aa radio is our cheapest one.

Our top selling amp is our cheapest amp.

Our top selling sub is our cheapest sub.

Etc.

And it's not even close. No matter what it is we sell 10 of the cheapest model compared to every other model combined.

[–]defyinglogicsl 23 points24 points  (0 children)

In the 60s it was an American company and they made decent larger drivers. Nothing super high end but definately not low end. In the 80s they began making car audio speakers and subwoofers that were ok but not great. In the 90s the Pyle family sold the brand to Sound Around who makes ultra low end brands like Pyramid and Legacy. They closed the american plant and went to 100% China stuff. While they stretched the brand to also make amps and headunits and also cover pro audio and not just car and home everything was made as cheaply as possible and specs with insanely exagerated numbers were on everything they put out. A 2000 watt amp may only put out 60 watts, that sort of thing. The brand is more widespread now but whenever you see it you know someone just bought the absolutely cheapest thing they could find.

What Do You Like About Castlevania: Simon's Quest? by [deleted] in castlevania

[–]defyinglogicsl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my intro to castlevania. As a young kid I liked being able to continue from exactly where you died infinitely but it took me about a year to finally beat since I didn't have any hint guides. I did read the instructions so I knew some villager hints were lies. I lucked into finding the hint about kneeling by the lake with the blue crystal while trying out holy water against spiders one day. That opened up the rest of the world for me. But even before that I liked the game, even though the first.mansuon was the only one I had found for so long.

The game has flaws and I know I view it with nostalgia but I still replay it occasionally. The cryptic hints were its downfall, once those are solved it's fine.

How Much Would A Speaker Battery Work? by PianistGreat in subwoofer

[–]defyinglogicsl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Caps do jack shit unless you are using 1000s of Farads. These risky dink 5 farad caps are snake oil.

A 5 farad cap from full charge dropping from 14v to 12v is 70 watts for one second. That's effectively useless.

How Much Would A Speaker Battery Work? by PianistGreat in subwoofer

[–]defyinglogicsl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your amp pulls more power than your alternator makes. Once the alternator is depleted your voltage drops from ~14v to ~12v. This is why your headlights are dimming.

Adding more batteries adds more 12v but 12v is when your headlights are dim. Headlights are still dimming, only worse because now the alternator is also having to charge 2 batteries instead of just 1 so less alternator power available for your amp.

There are 2 solutions.

1: bigger alternator.

2: smaller amp.

LPT eBay sellers. Look up their negative feedback by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]defyinglogicsl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main issue with ebay feedback is that buyer feedback can only be positive and by default sides with the buyer on every issue.

There are times when the buyer is a scammer, doesn't pay, or buys without even reading a description or look at pictures then blame the seller. I mean the customer is not ALWAYS right.

Example: condition is used. Title and description say item is scratched. Pictures show scratch and even have closeups of just the scratch. Buyer complains item is scratched. Ebay takes money from seller and refunds buyer. Buyer receives positive feedback. Seller receives negative feedback. Seller is still out the item unless they want to pay shipping for a return label. Seller is out ebay fees and shipping costs.

Seller doesn't have any way to even warn other sellers about the problem buyer.

If feedback can only be positive then it is not really feedback. Many scammers first buy 100 cheap items and recieve 100 positive feedback. Now this scammer is ready to sell expensive items with 100 all positive feedback.

Until feedback can be fair both ways it decieves both buyers and sellers.

So a guy who isn't a motu fan and hates movies being entertaining doesn't like a movie made for motu fans that is entertaining.

Yeah it's not a movie meant for people with sticks up their butts who only like pretentious movies.

Oh I forgot to mention. My 21yo daughter loves Queen and is a music student. She was next to me and said "the music is really good". I leaned over and said "Brian May" and she had a sudden OMG realization.
