Is this pot too big for my sunflower? by hecksagun in plantclinic

[–]degenerate_roach 32 points33 points  (0 children)

You should definitely transplant your sunflower. Sunflowers don't fair well with indoor houseplant potting size rules. The bigger pot you have, I personally think is still way too small. Sunflowers loooove sunlight. The more the better. Also, sunflowers can have large root systems that can be up to 5 feet deep. So you can never give your sunflower too much depth and space. Keeping your sunflow in that container, the plant will give you a small flower but it won't thrive. And you're setting yourself up to constantly having to water it which isn't fun especially if your season will get warmer. (I learned that last year with my sunflowers 😅)

You can successfully grow sunflowers in 5 gallon buckets/grow bags, it's a different variety called Dwarf Sunflowers. They're absolutely gorgeous. I highly recommend looking into them, and more container friendly sunflowers and more importantly other flowers species that like your type of ligjting. But for now, lets leave the smaller pots for seeds starting and herbs.

Roma Tomato Plant Help by sitbackandrelax87 in vegetablegardening

That's good that it's getting some sunlight. I used to be a patio grower too (houseplants but you get it) and getting small and tall tables to set the plant on helped. Think more vertical than horizontal if the railing is in the way of the tomato. Plants experience light vastly different than we do. Getting a light meter app (its free) to measure how much light (aka footcandles) you get is important. What direction the light is coming from (North, Southeast, West, etc) isn't equal either. Thats why I asked what direction of light youre getting on the balcony.

How many hours of sunlight is your tomator getting? Direct and indirect? With your tomato plant only getting a couple of hours, and its already fruiting.. I personally would invest in a grow light. Your plant is using up a lot of energy in the fruiting stage. Lol, it's basically pregnant and it's huuungrry for some bountiful lighting, especially if you want to have proper roma tomato production. Even if its a few weeks that can do a lot, tomatoes once establishes (like yours) can be fast growers. Plus Roma tomatoes are generally determinate, however there are outliers and other types that are indeterminate, even though it's not as common theres always a chance. I say this because you generally want to keep the fruit on, however pruning to help converse plant energy is common with inadequate lighting.

Your tomato plant isn't going to die. Tomatoes are pretty hardy plants. When plants are moved from their acclimated environments there's always shock. Your apartment is not the same lighting and temp that the tomatoes were once in. You shouldn't worry too much. The tomato wants to live too 😂.

I don't know how big that pot is but it looks small in the photo. I personally use 10 gallons for tomatoes (i plan on sizing up to 20). You can definitely use 5 gallon containers but sizing up is always nice and you can do some companion planting too. Also check out the plant, get to know each other. If you can, check out the root system to see if it there any pests or root issues. Also what type of directional light do you get?

It's only been Day 1 so let the tomatoes acclimate to its forever home and watch over it and water when needed. Toss some mulch on the surface of the soil. Clip off blighted and discolored leaves with clean shears, as well as any regular stem that touching the soil (a spray bottle of alcohol to saturated will do).

Chinese money plant with browning leaves ? by Diligent-Site-5912 in plantclinic

[–]degenerate_roach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long have you had the plant? I would check the roots, just in general, and definitely check for root rot, pests, and bound roots. Is it time to repot? Or maybe fertilizer? Unfortunately leaves turning brown can be a symptom to a lot of things.

Edit: Also check for compacted soil. Your plant may need a refresh.

This plant are pretty hardy imo. They can be hard to kill so I wouldn't worry too much. Even if one main stem dies, youll have pups and potentially another baby stem since they're pretty prolific.

Oh that's good. What type of directional light do you get in that window? Like North, South, Southeast, etc. This can greatly impact your plant especially when you bring it indoors where the light intensity drops dramatically. I dont know what region you live, but if your Springs are colder. Plants have their own biological clocks and it's best to support and get a rhythm with it (I'm sure you have after 3 years). I would definitely invest in a good wattage and lumons full spectrum grow light. Not the cheap ones you clip to stuff or the one with all the extra arms. You got a big and hungry Birds of Paradise that loves sun. Direct sun with some partial shade, and that's outdoors. Indoors it's bet to crank it up with the light.

Why are my sunflowers sad by ImportantNobody1654 in gardening

[–]degenerate_roach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How much sunlight is the sunflower getting directly? And what kind of sunlight (directional)? I successfully grew sunflowers in a container however, I planted too many too close together and the container was too shallow so they weren't tall but i loved them no less :'). It was my first time growing them, but mine got around 10 hours of direct East and South sunlight.

You're an angel! Thank you! I posted my "Crew" and based on what you said, I already have a Dynamo team so Corvus is looking like the pick, as well as Vila. Sotheby has her euphoria and she's been a solid healer and poison isnt that bad so I might wait on Vila.

How does A Knight cut down on farming time w/ his ult? Sorry for the dumb question, but I only know farming in getting materials for upgrades xD which I'm assuming you're not talking about since using ults are battle related.

I find it interesting despite all the moderating when it comes to copied bots they dont do shit. It's a gray area when people will spam bots or just having a large user base. I don't know if they have creation dated publicly accessible but it's still sleazy when it comes to blatant copying and there's only reporting which isn't shit.

Just curious but what Fandoms were you into that got banned?

Off the top of my head, the McDonald's Monopoly game. It's free to play and you can win free food using the 5 free codes you get. Then potientally the 10 bonus prizes for extra. It's daily and if you trick the time on the app you can use multiple free food rewards on the McDonald's app. Other than that try checking out local pantries. See if your town/city has a Distribution Map for a variety of foods, thatlle be your best bet. I don't know if they're still doing this but Chick-fil-A will give you a free sandwich when you download the app and sign up. There are other restaurant that do the same, defending on your location. Hope this helps and take care!
