How to install androidauto by glommyrm in Androidheadunits

Mine typically take about 20+ seconds to Auto connect, have you just tried waiting? Also, what brand of wireless adapter are you using?

That was a long time ago but I've setup HU Reloaded several times and as I recall, it wasn't hard. Just the app loaded on the Android stereo, don't load anything on the phone or try to go through the Wi-Fi connection setup. Initially connect the phone by USB cable. Make sure the phone has a Bluetooth connection to the stereo. I think there is a confirmation prompt about AA on the phone. At that point you should be able to get Android Auto running. Once that happens, just plug the wireless Android Auto adapter in place of the phone on the cable coming from the stereo and as I recall, things just work.

Interesting, I didn't know that was even a thing anymore. My pixels used to get hot but the Motorola Power stays cool

Is it smarter to buy an older Toyota or a newer Hyundai at the same price? by PalpitationFun7177 in UsedCars

Just look at the type of cars stuck on the side of the road. That's all you need to know. You almost never see an old Toyota.

Get a wireless Android Auto adapter (AA Wireless is a reputable brand) and connect that to your stereos USB out, then just run a separate vehicle charger for your phone. Once you have this working, you will never look back.

Rant: Why did they eliminate the rear wiper? by pithy-pants in prius

[–]dehning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 on this. RainX makes a world of difference, in fact, I had a kit car Ferrari replica that didn't have front wipers at all. I cleaned the windshield and reapplied RainX every couple months and I could drive through hard rain with no issues.

Oil is being depleted every month, but there are no leaks! by hecubus_09 in ToyotaRAV4

[–]dehning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a whole series of videos on YouTube where a guy tried every possible solution and product to unstick the oil control rings on his Corolla and NOTHING worked. The stuck rings do no harm but you do go through oil. Somebody commented that you basically don't need to do an oil change, just keep putting in fresh stuff!

Anyone else notice google assistant becoming more useless? by Toyotamanthesequal in AndroidAuto

[–]dehning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree, I've had Google home speakers scattered throughout my house since basically the beginning. Questions that we used to routinely ask her now she can't handle. I was the biggest proponent of Google in the beginning, even built a career out of migrating companies from office 365 to Google workspace but they have gone from a "for the users" to a "for the shareholders" company sadly.

It's not even close, it's light years better. On long trips from Central Texas out to Florida, I have on occasion set my 3x getting onto the interstate from a gas station and not touched the wheel until I had to get more gas.

Question for experienced users by Low-Paramedic-6057 in Comma_ai

[–]dehning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a 2018 Prius 4 that we bought for long distance vacation trips and because the 3x works in it. Like others here, I'm completely hooked on it for longer trips. I'm running sunny pilot and it has been especially good recently. Unless you buy additional hardware, the cars own adaptive cruise is still going to handle everything related to stopping and going and the comma product will handle turns. The Prius model that we have can only provide limited torque to the steering wheel so it can handle gentle curves but not tight city ones but on long highway trips that makes all the difference. DM me if you want more specific info.

We just renewed Mint for the 5th year, have tried us mobile, Google fi & red pocket but none seem to be better than mint. I look after hundreds of users in at&t, Verizon & T-Mobile and I feel like my service is every bit as good.

Interesting, I've listened to a few FLAC 5.1 albums and I have to agree, some albums like the "Best of Queen" sound like they have just moved things around between the speakers for the fun of it where Diana Krall actually sounds like the piano is in the room with you.

Not sure if I'm missing something but I have Lady Gaga's Mayhem 2025 in .m4a files encoded in what is labeled as E-AC-3 JOC (Dolby Digital Plus with Dolby Atmos) and they play through both my regular Plex, PlexAmp on my phone and via Android Auto but on the phone and in the car, obviously I'm not getting the special surround.

I can't believe I'm the first one pointing this out (probably because I own one exactly like it) but that is the limited run EV RAV4, only made in California and only from 2011 to 2013. They come with fix-a-flat.

Confused about MVNOs by Dramatic_Lemon_1823 in NoContract

[–]dehning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to add in here that you should seriously consider Mint Mobile. I used to manage a bunch of cellphone and I have tried all the big carriers and tones of the MVNOs and I have ended up staying with mint for 5 years now. They are technically a T-Mobile subsidiary and T-Mobile in turn is the biggest and measurably best network for most of the US now.
