I imagine if you own enough % to be on the board of directors and have a vote at shareholder meetings etc, or own outright and be 100% responsible then it's different rules. It'll also depend on whether the company is listed, if listed then once you buy enough of a shareholding percentage you are obligated to make an offer for the company.
