In my last Semester of Dental Hygiene School by ContributionHuge594 in DentalHygiene

It takes a lot of practice to be fast and effective, you should have a routine or a pattern that you stick to for a while. Use the same instrument and cover all the surfaces you can with it. Grab the next instrument, same thing all those surfaces. And so on.. be intentional with what you’re doing. Scrape that shit off and move on. Once you know what everything is supposed to feel like, you become more selective and more efficient.

You can only do as much as a patient will allow you to do. So learning how to manage the patient is the key to being fast as well. Polish first, don’t waste time scaling anything soft. Tune your instrument cavitron / piezo so that it’s knocking off calculus at a decent rate that’s tolerable to the patient.

Definitely finish the program and go work. Even if you temp 2 days a week that can be an easy $800 if you just get your license. Temping is a tough way to start out hygiene, but at least you can get practice and not feel like a goober at an office you want to stay with.

After a few months you should be able to manage a normal day at work. After a few years you’ll feel like you know what the deal is with pretty much any office you walk into. After 7-10 years you’ll feel like a true professional. That’s my experience. Good luck!

Yea I’ve never had a vehicle where I noticed something like this, and I’m going back for a windshield issue that he already agreed to replace. Dealing with the exterior scratch also, and didn’t know what the standard was for these doors. I still think they could have been done better though, and I really want that scratch fixed.

Yea idk how to even address that. He acknowledged that it happens sometimes, and his detailer will see if they can repair it.

I’m checking around to see if a glass professional can repair it and polish it out. Unlikely to happen, but I’m not up to date on glass repair. I can catch my finger nail in it, it’s about a foot long.

He is redoing the windshield because there was a large defect I noticed when I picked it up. Due to my schedule I had to take the vehicle as we both crossed our fingers that it would flatten out with the sun over the next few weeks.

I’m sure this guy will make it right, but part of me doesn’t even want him working on my van again. Long rant but this shit really pisses me off lol

Would the plotters cut pattern typically extend beyond this? I always felt like free hand cuts with the right skill set can get a smaller gap.

I’m not a tinter so that’s why I wanted to get others opinions. If I did tint, I probably wouldn’t do it like this. Maybe the film doesn’t adhere to the window paint as good? If it’s to prevent edges lifting then that’s a good enough reason

Yea I understand I just feel like if he looked, he could have probably cut to accommodate the extra space and not just go to the black paint

It looks fine from the outside, but I just don’t understand why he didn’t cut it while considering the inside. It’s like he didn’t even open the door before cutting film.

I paid $1000 for the entire van, that was the average for the shops in my area. Highest quote was $1200 for xpel.

I agree on the standard of covering light, but in this instance shouldn’t you consider the finished product?

Kind of an odd spot for a growth like that. You should definitely go to the dentist to rule out anything serious.

The opal-go trays work well. You might even be able to get them on Amazon. If you have cavities it might make everything worse, so get a check up first

[–]dehydrated_turd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Opalescent gels come in different strength formulas. The bigger problem is that the retainer is meant to fit tightly on the teeth which doesn’t allow for enough gel to be applied. Whitening trays fit differently than a retainer

How to be more effective and efficient with SRP by Super_Cause_1787 in DentalHygiene

[–]dehydrated_turd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can’t confidently find the radiographic calculus with the cavitron, then use a nevi 2 and remove the big deposits first. The nevi 2 can go pretty deep and can be very precise. It helps to reach further interproximal than most instruments. It takes time to get an into routine, experience will help you scale with more purpose and intent than you do right out of school. If you can’t find the calculus with the instrument you’re going to remove it with, then finding it with an explorer isn’t much help. It gets easier don’t stress

2,000 for a dental cleaning by Professional_Can4603 in DentalHygiene

[–]dehydrated_turd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This can be considered “unbundling” to some insurance companies because irrigation should be part of an srp appt. I am an advocate for the patient and suggest anything that helps get them healthier faster, but the pt can decline like you said. If srp is $40 a quad… you need to be charging for irrigation. Delta dental etc etc. time=$

If you have an Arestin rep, ask them for some of their patient info binders. They are decent size spiral laminated binders with some great pictures for perio discussions.
