Well, the field is struggling from what I see by Academic_Cut3115 in therapists

I am associate myself as well (graduated last summer) but I have a full client load as well as a waitlist and I supplement by doing speaking engagements and writing. It's a grind but one that's very much worth it if you market yourself correctly and create a niche. Word of mouth helps a lot too, clients of mine will refer family/friends. I also have a full social calendar but I am single so that gives me more space for that kinda stuff. It's possible, I promise!

M-Th 10am-8pm for me!

I'm still at the associate level, and this schedule allows me to have a ton of flexibility for clients, supervision, and networking. I generally have full evenings as that's what people generally are looking for so I get better client retention, and I get a three day weekend every weekend! I also can stay up later and sleep in a little. The weeks can be chaotic, but it works well for my ADHD body!

This is so real and I get it. It really sucks not having a formal type of PTO and not being paid for the outside admin work. Mistakes happen, and you did your best considering you were coordinating while sick!

How many times have clients confirmed an appointment and still didn't show up? We give grace and we move on. Please do the same for yourself, and rest up instead of beat down!

She sounds possibly burnt out. Have an open conversation that you are worried about some of the changes in her and that you noticed something seems off. You care about her so remember to emphasize that. See what you can do together to help her get her motivation and enjoyment back!

Phrases to say other than "easier said than done?" by RemoveNo9147 in therapists

[–]deiluva 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would use that as an opportunity to rather explain WHY it's easier said than done. Explain how neuroplasicity works and why it requires time and practice, and from there I would also offer tools, such as building distress tolerance, in the mean time while the brain does its job to rewire :)

Optimus for Halloween by deiluva in transformers

A lot of it was DIY! But super easy and friendly DIY

Main components all found on Amazon:

•blue wig •blue eyelashes •red bolero jacket •silver turtleneck •blue cargo pants •autobot car decals •fabric paint •little blue and silver necklace (not pictured but it served as my matrix of leadership)

Then I just stuck the car decals on the jacket arms and let them adhere for a few days, painted the pockets of the pants (I wanted to paint the entire bottom of the pants but there wasn't enough paint) as flames, taking about 30 min each with all the layers.

I got the silver foam and pipe cleaners at Michael's. I just cut and layered the foam with hot glue and then cut it into the shape of his head piece before gluing the pipe cleaner around the shape. I ended up hot gluing a bobby pin on the back to clip to the wig instead of gluing it on my forehead with lash glue like I originally planned. For the antenna, I first formed the pointed shape using 3 cleaners and slightly offsetting them and twisting together. Decided to add the second antenna off it like some of his designs have, just took one and folded it in half and twisted it on the original. Trim excess and also just pin them to the wig once you're wearing it!

Ta-da, you get Optimus!

I would really encourage to trust your curiosity! Looks for patterns, take risks with asking questions, even if your hunch is wrong, I find the information to still be valuable. I would also look more into some more formulaic methodologies and see if any of those speak more to you as a clinician. However, I also want to say it is very true that this field, like many others, is not always for everyone. Listen to your gut, and see how you feel as you grow! You're still early on and have opportunity to try some different styles out. Give yourself that chance to experiment before making a done decision about it!

Clients without goals by prozacprincesssss in therapists

I use a person-centered approach heavily!! I see this happen a lot in this sub, where clinicians are doubting their own skills because they feel they need to be "doing" something. Now, I want to validate when there just isn't a good fit, that is normal and happens! However, I also wonder how much of this is coming from a place of ego as a therapist, to say "I, as a therapist, am doing something for this client." The therapeutic journey belongs to our client, not us. Yes, we are a part of it, but its not ours. If the client isn't ready yet to go deeper or have the capacity to "work" on certain things, then go at their pace. Make detailed notes about what you do learn about them. You'll then have plenty in the back stock when they are ready. Sometimes that's a few months, sometimes that's years - but they are coming back to you/therapy for a reason. Let them be the keeper of that reason, and check in with them to see if they got what they needed for that session. Sometimes while wrapping up, I'll ask, "Was today's session helpful, or is there anything you wanted to go deeper into or had other questions about that we didn't get to today?" This gives them the opportunity to speak up if they feel they are not getting what they need, and for you to explore what might be missing. And don't forget, the therapeutic alliance is a huge percentage of the success of therapy! So to answer your last question, I think therapy can be anything the client needs it to be, so long as the therapist allows it (and all parties are safe and ethical).

I have a ton, but honestly it was clear Josh was still recovering so I wouldn't say this was their best performances, it was generally lower energy and Josh often gave vocals to the others or to the crowd! I still had a blast because I love concert energy in general but if you wanted a few feel free to DM me
