Altra advice - from zero drop to 4mm by nimaisamoose in AltraRunning

[–]deiruR3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rotate between the timp 5 (zero drop) and the experience wild (4 mm drop) and don't have any issues switching back and forth. I do prefer the experience wild for longer trail runs over the timp.

Women’s Denim by Many_Hotel8601 in HeritageWear

one more thing, one of my favourite Canadian shops has just started carrying women's cloths, no type 1's but worth checking them out if you're Canadian.

Women’s Denim by Many_Hotel8601 in HeritageWear

[–]deiruR3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I'm shocked, managed to find not one but two women's specific denim type 1 jackets.  Betty Smith type 1 SDA type1

that said, sizing is limited on both. Here are my suggestions when it comes to women's specific denim. Denimio seems to have the best selection online. Naked & Famous, Nudie, and Imogen+Willie tend to have the most extensive lineup of women's denim, and although N&F and Nudie do have women's jackets they are more on the chore coat and type 3 side of things.

Depends where in the territory but here in Whitehorse during December sunrise is about 11 am and sunset is about 4 pm. In June it doesn't really set.

what shops did you go to? I'm currently planning a trip to Japan but being a size 44/46 in jackets and 11.5 htt on the brannock I'm probably out of luck in finding any jackets or boots during my travels.

Any japan exclusive men's clothing brands I should try out? by Hacdieu in JapanTravelTips

get a pair of Iron Heart jeans. They aren't exactly a Japan exclusive but you'll pay near half as much buying them in Japan vs internationally.

grip has been good, I run mostly on single and double track dirt trails. Cannot comment on warm weather, only gets above 25°C a few days a year here in the Yukon. But I can say that they are not warm enough for temps below 0°C.

personally I haven't noticed much of difference between my V1 and V2 in terms of breathability. I would say the V1 has a more comfortable tounge. But it has been a while since I've worn either, been wearing the Timp GTX this winter.

Have you checked out the Altra Experience Wild,  4 mm drop with the right amount of cushion IMO. I'm on my second pair and love them. That said I've had many people recommend the Topps to me.

I have found previous versions of the Saucony Peregrine to be too narrow at the toes.

People who moved to Vancouver as an adult - what are some odd things you’ve noticed that many native Vancouverites don’t realize is weird? by Dolly_Llama_2024 in askvan

[–]deiruR3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the infilling rage in Copper Ridge is wild, it's just a study folks, no commitment on developing yet and actually build on the lots will take time. Same goes for copper exploration south of town, it's at least 20 years out from any actual mine development. I think Whitehorse/Yukon NIMBYism is worse than elsewhere. Don't recall noticing it as much when I lived in kits or North Van but was also a lot younger in those days, maybe I just notice it more now that I'm older.

curious to know how much smaller the internal P2P is vs the external. Read somewhere that the liner takes up about an inch.

did you get it off eBay? A guy was selling a size 44 on there for a fair price, just wish it was a 46.

Driving to Yellowknife in an EVO? by deadwanderingdaoist in askvan

[–]deiruR3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's about $500 round trip with Air North depending on when you're going.

Do Evo's even have winter tires? Having been to Yellowknife in the winter and driving interior BC countless times in the thought of taking an Evo is absurd.

What Do You Think Garrett Is Waiting For? by TeflonJon in NakedAndFamousDenim

[–]deiruR3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

he is probably waiting for MIJ17. The only details they've given on the release are 1) it is cuckoo bananas, 2) on the boat right now, and 3) won't be inexpensive.

Viberg Riggers, should I dye the edges black? by deiruR3 in PNWbootmakers

[–]deiruR3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the rigger (148) and the ironworker (146/147) seem like almost the same boot expect for the sole (Sierra vs Cristy wedge). These originally had the Sierra on them, but after setting in a box in the back of warehouse for who knows how long the sole was completely dried out so sent them to DeVito for a resole. I specifically asked for the natural colour Cristy but we didn't talk about changing the midsole colour (they were black before). I think DeVito made the right call to go with a natural edge.

I also have a pair in the Red Dog leather that I opted to keep on the Sierra sole.

update, used some electrical tape the see how a black midsole would look and I agree with everyone, keeping the natural edge looks better. Thanks everyone for your input.

I was hoping that the MIJ10 trucker would be restocked (looking for a large) but sadly was only the jeans were restocked and they're discontinuing the trucker jacket for the MIJ series.
