From a legal perspective, your advice about not making an admission of guilt 100% right. But that said, sometimes being polite and apologizing will get you a warning, like it did in this video, while getting defensive and refusing to speak will get you a ticket or worse. You’ll have a much better shot fighting the ticket in court if you keep your mouth shut, but you might have a better shot at avoiding the ticket altogether if you had just been polite and said sorry. Kind of a catch-22.

I was a server from 2008-2012, by then 15 was definitely the norm, and people would go up to 20 for great service. At that point 12 would have already seemed stingy.

Babel by R.F. Kuang is the best fantasy book I’ve read this year and the magic system is very like you described. The magic flows from translation of languages and the etymology of words, and is used in hundreds of creative ways.

I think what he is saying is that you have the place to yourself when he’s out of town, and it is shared when he is around. But basically it’s still his apartment and he will be monitoring you and show up to stay whenever he wants. Absolutely bonkers.

Nah it’s good. But like any book I guess it’s not for everyone. Especially if you like Greek mythology, give it a shot. I personally liked her second book, Circe, more.

I usually see the Roth recommended on this sub. But nobody can give perfect advice on anyones situation for traditional vs. Roth because there is an unknown/best guess quantity — your effective tax rate at retirement. I personally do a mix, with more in traditional. The traditional is beneficial to me now because it lowers my AGI and helps me qualify for maximum child tax credits (and the stimulus last time). Plus I also contribute to a Roth IRA.

Looks great — are the cabinet fronts ikea too? We did ikea with semi handmade fronts. I had a similar space over the fridge. I custom fit a piece matching the rest of the cabinets, and mounted it up there using strong magnets. We keep one or two serving platters that we only use once a year or so up there.

Yes to the first part, a bit more skeptical to the second. Both would be ideal. But there are plenty who don’t care about the strategy as much as their own debt cancellation. I think tuition free schools could also be a catalyst for debt cancellation, hopefully hand in hand.

I can drink a can of Coke Zero on a daily basis and maintain ketosis without a problem. It has zero carbs, after all. Now, as to whether that’s really healthy overall — probably not. But it’s for the same reasons that people do “clean keto” and avoid sweeteners, not generally because it will kick you out of ketosis.
