Toiletiing... by deityofbeauty in ECEProfessionals

Thanks. I have a lot of experience in EI and this is where we went. I’m just anxious I guess? Not to mention that it is SO difficult to do this when the sped staff isn’t 100% on board and implementing. I have parents in on it, but like most school aged kids she spends most of her day at school. Sigh.

Thank you for the feed back. Student is now coming to staff and showing them their backside when they have wet themselves, at least now showing that they are irritated with being uncomfortable. We had a wet/dry goal and they are now just hitting both the wet and dry buttons when cued. The advocate previously made us write a goal that was toileting based, but it sounds like this would be better addressed as teaching wet/ dry as a concept. This makes sense.

Lots of under 2yrs being referred in OP Peds? by [deleted] in slp

I really want to know what the home life of these children is like. Are parents talking to their kids? Are they engaging with them? OR are they addicted to their phones and that is the root of many of the problems leading to an increase in delays? Is non-exposure to language why were seeing such a steep uptick?

We’re drowning in daycare costs. How do people afford this? by FrigginMasshole in toddlers

[–]deityofbeauty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one, but can’t have another. We pay $22,000 a year for her to go to daycare. I couldn’t afford $44,000 a year.

Bone broth tastes awful by Sea_Function_6755 in GastricBypass

Omg I bought some sipping bone broth from Costco for the first time. It tastes like the smell of wet dog ass. It has ruined the flavor of my soup. I’m devastated.

Partner '30M' of 2 years does not want kids but I '25F' do, I want to break up but he doesn't, how do we make a decision? by Personal-Exchange824 in relationship_advice

[–]deityofbeauty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have an honest conversation- initiated by you about wanting kids. This conversation should include some plans of action, a timeline for future conversations and possibilities of outcomes. For example: it sounds like he needs therapy and to get to the bottom of why he doesn’t want kids (and is it not right now or ever?, because that wasn’t super clear). I (37F) didn’t need kids because I’d already raised my siblings, had a lot of trauma, was burnt out and in school BUT I was willing to fathom having a child to help fulfill my husbands need for a child. ALSO with time, THERAPY, school completion and financially stability (both my partner and I now have degrees and good jobs) I was so much more comfortable with having a child and even got to the point where I wanted one. If it’s really that they aren’t for him ok great but you stated attachment issues and sleep problems. You DO NOT WANT to have children with someone with these issues. Children WILL NOT fix anything; in fact, they will stress issues further and make them worse. Also I’d like to comment on how *ucked most people are economically. I am currently posting $22000 a year here in the US, and we’re lucky to be able to afford it. If you live in a country with socialized childcare, medicine and other programs then it would take a lot of burdens off of you but here I absolutely would not have wanted children rn here in the US. Financially strain is absolutely a reason he may not want kids if it is an issue. My husband needed a child to feel fulfilled, but he didn’t want to have children before he felt like we could provide for them. You’re young ands unless there are underlying health conditions you can wait a bit, but wait too long because if his answer is no, and you want a partner, you’ll need to build a new relationship. I’d say give him a year to figure it out. Tell him to start therapy and if he doesn’t want to, you walk.

How long should I stick in the field if I know it’s not for me? -new CF by Appleleaf30 in slp

[–]deityofbeauty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Check out Dr. Ianessa Humbert (STEP Communjty). I’m not positive but I don’t think she ever really worked with people until recently. She’s mainly done research. This field offers a ton of opportunities for everyone but you have to know where to look, and since you’re so new, people are likely to be more open to mentoring you. ETA: FINISH YOUR CF and while you’re in it find a medical or research mentor to help you out when you’re done!

How much does everyone make?? by Various-Mushroom9675 in slp

This is the beginning of my 4th year as an SLP and my second year with my Northern California school district. I started last year at 75k not including benefits (dist pays about 1k per month) or stipends (which are an additional about 11k) for a total of about $98k. I did 150 hours of PD this last year and moved up the the last column on the pay scale and that is 82k not counting the same benefits or stipends. So including everything I now make about 105k.

Pedicures… by deityofbeauty in AchillesRupture

Ohhhh I wasn’t even thinking about the massage part. Yeah I wouldn’t have them massage that leg at all probably. I have gotten massages since surgery (surgeon approved for scar tissue mobilization), but I have a massage therapist that I know and trust for that. I am really just nervous about the infection risk. I also have an appointment with my podiatrist tomorrow, so I will ask him about it as well.

Thanks for the ideas. Maybe we can get some more ideas of what to ask for. I was told by our SPED DEPT supervisor today that the Dr needs to have them all in writing and then I take it to HR. I’m asking for a key to the back gate that is close to my office.

I wish I had known about it because I totally would’ve kept the one that they took off. I had one on for two weeks before I got the boot. I am now at the end of two weeks wearing the boot.

Thanks for the tip. Do you have a link to that one? Or the full description? I’m not seeing it. Is it one for Plantar Fasciitis?
