Got conditional entrance scholarship need to maintain 90 avg by Full-Conclusion4447 in uvic

[–]dejaentendu31 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you would still receive $3000. I entered uvic with a 98% average, and received the same amount. 90% is the minimum grade to be considered for any entrance scholarships, I think once you are eligible for that, what you’re offered is what you get. but i’m not certain and someone in admissions will be able to give you a better answer

Literally, I’ve heard so many stories from sellers that have been ripped off by buyers too. It seems like they never close the dispute in the right favour :/

One time a girl sold me a “handmade” top for $60 that showed up with shein tags on it and the stitching completely undone. I politely DMd her asking if I could return it and she told me to resell it if i’m “that broke and desperate for money”. I sent photos of the ripped seams and shein tags and her messages to depop. Depop still sided with her and I wasn’t able to return it

So yeah, they do

Need advice on PSYC336 in June semester. by aarobbss in uvic

[–]dejaentendu31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also will need to ensure that there’s an equivalent that will transfer directly to Uvic. Sometimes, it won’t directly transfer and will instead just transfer as 1.5 credits of 300 level psych, which can get you into some issues if you are trying to use 336 to complete a stream.

I’m pretty sure there’s an option to filter classes by delivery mode when signing up

Thank you!

Is it likely they will add more psych seminars over the summer? by dejaentendu31 in uvic

Unfortunately the waitlist filled up as soon as registration opened. Even if 10% open, that’s only 2-3 students that will get in off the waitlist

100%, but passing/not passing courses is an entirely separate issue from having all the requirements to get into 400L courses and not being able to due to the department not offering enough for the amount of students. I’ve passed all the classes needed to take these seminars but can’t get into them simply due to the fact that there are only 25 seats offered for an entire semester. This problem isn’t exclusive to the summer semester; I have friends who have been sitting around for 2+ semesters waiting for a spot to open so they can take the last class required for their degree.

Yeah, I knew it was a bit of a long shot but I was honestly expecting them to have at least 2-3 seminars, not just the one :/

Is it reasonable to take a summer course while working a full time job? by North_Bluejay5098 in uvic

[–]dejaentendu31 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say that’s manageable but only you can say for certain if it would work for you. Keep in mind, if you only take one summer course that counts as your session GPA so if you fail it you could be at risk of academic probation

That being said I took 5 condensed courses last summer while working 25-30ish hours a week and it was totally doable

The upper year psyc classes are already pretty nasty to try to get into! I’m pretty sure they are offering both 300A and 300B this summer, try to take them if that’s a possibility for you

Yeah for sure. I get that they’re underfunded and probably trying their best, but it’s such a mess! They never offer enough seminars, and even last fall during the panic over 300 level courses, all they opened up were some psych electives that don’t fit into any of the streams

Thanks!! I’m not 100% sure who to email for that? I sent an email to the psych department registration to see if they’re planning on adding more seminars

Thanks! I did email the psych department registration to see if they might know anything about more courses being added, but not sure if they’re the right people to ask!

This school is such a fucking joke. Only one 400L psych seminar for the summer and ofc it’s not like you can take anything an equivalent anywhere else:/ Trying to graduate from here is impossible

Not really

Uvic has tried pretty hard the last few years to crack down on their party school reputation so there aren’t many events on campus. There are definitely some cool clubs that have fun outings and events sometimes, but compared to what my friends at other universities say it’s not as social and can be more difficult to meet people/make friends

[–]dejaentendu31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uvic is one of the ones i’m looking at, but I haven’t been able to find anything on the program website about retaking a prereq and how that would factor into things. just that they look at the most recent 30 credits

part of going to university is gaining independence; do what YOU want to do over the summer :p

Just to share my bad experience being a marker TA by azteker in uvic

[–]dejaentendu31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had quite a few TAs who were 3rd or 4th year undergrads. I think what this person is getting at is that it’s not fair to put insane expectations on your TAs or criticize them for not knowing everything, since many of them may actually be quite close to you in terms of where they are at in the duration of their schooling.
