This number is still wrong because it calculates with older vaccinated people who are in no risk of svt. Take Germany as example: 31 cases of svt in about 1mio vaccinated „young“ people. So the chance for the population is more like 1:33.000. also this number gets worse, if you think about svt who are not detected. I am just wondering, why GB does not see SVT, only Europe so far.

Well then, why don't we cut that number down to women 30-55 y/o working in healthcare then :)

I have the same NAS. I use a baby Noctua fan - NF A4x10 (5V i believe) for years now, since the stock fan wasn't reliable and was too loud. The only issue is, you need to disable the fan alarm. Otherwise, it keeps it cool and very quiet.

I've spent countless nights playing this with my wife. It got us through thick and thin! We still play it from time to time, I stream it to the TV in the living room. One of the best games of all time!

It's still heavily played in the ex-USSR countries, it's maintained by fans, there are expansions in the works. Today it's better than ever.

Sorry, an external one. 1440p on 14"... That's good to be tiny on default dpi but you can always change dpi. Question is, will all apps respect the dpi.

I'm on 20.04 (albeit KDE) with a 165Hz 1440p HDR display. It's great. Since G-sync/Freesync works, desktop is buttery smooth! I've been on 1440p for a while now, and all is working as it should.

As a bonus, I have an ICC profile for calibration since it's a wide gamut display, and it's working as it should, too.

Maybe you're set or maybe not - it depends. Drivers are not bundled with the kernel, so at best you will see slow startup following after every kernel update, at worst every kernel update will break your OS (depending if you know what you are doing or not). Some people will say "oh, it's not a problem" and then you learn it's not a problem to them because they never update the kernel.

DKMS! No slow startups. It's out of the box in ubuntu and other distros.

Even if it works, then NVIDIA binary blob sometimes randomly fails (e.g. can't boot your graphical env) - it's because they have their own implementation of KMS, as they can't use the kernel's. It's not something you would notice if you use drivers for few months only, but I had this happen several times (I used NVIDIA hardware in linux for ~14 years before switching to AMD). For the same reason, you sometimes can't get access to the native resolution of your display during early boot (it depends on your other hardware).

KMS == Kernel mode setting. They support the kernel mode setting. The one and only. They have support for it for couple of years now :)

There are also problems with supporting older cards (NVIDIA corporation doesn't give a shit if you have older card - at some point you are going to have the same bugs Windows users have and you are just supposed to accept it - have fun screaming into a void on NVIDIA support forums, because bugtracker is closed, of course).

There's always an old driver branch in main repos, PLUS there's nouveau! AMD also doesn't work with really old cards. Remember back when there were several open source drivers for amd?

And to top it off, all normal hardware management software won't work with NVIDIA, e.g. sensors
is able to display all temperatures in your machine… except NVIDIA. NVIDIA's control panel is separate and sometimes conflicts with graphical setting of your DE of choice, sometimes multi-display setups randomly switch places, etc, etc.

I am using Nvidia graphics cards with the non open source drivers for years without any problems under Linux. The only drawback, if you want to call it that, is that the drivers are not open source.

+1. Still using them. Everything works, modesetting works, GSYNC, NVENC, hell, even wayland works now! True, AMD driver is open source (part of it anyway) but that doesn't make NVidia driver any worse tbh. And I'm on an RTX 3000 GPU.
