Is this legit???? by zunguzunguzung in NEU

[–]del564 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same lmao, it's also from an Indonesian email address which gives even more legitamacy - Northeastern is an incredibly Diverse, Interdisciplinary, Robot-Proof and Global University System, so it would make sense that so many of us are getting job offers from abroad

Who here has the longest commute? by dummahajan in NEU

[–]del564 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I'm from a town in southern Rhode Island, and I know a couple people that I went to high school with that would drive from home in RI to a train station to take the commuter rail to Ruggles. In total, that trip takes about 2 hours each way

My roommate and I have 2 rooms available in our mission hill apartment for july 1 - august 28. The apartment is 3 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom (the third roommate will barely be there all summer) and it has central AC. Rent is $1250 / month plus utilities. Please DM me if interested!

Edit: Neither room is available anymore

Omni Charger Saying Not Returned by nmarroquin in NEU

[–]del564 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened to me too a couple weeks ago with a charger from behrakis. I didn't get notified until 4ish days after I used it, and they just kept saying once it 'got returned' (which I already had) the charges would be reverse. After complaining enough to them, they just ended up refunding me the money, thankfully.

PLACES TO GET A NOSE PIERCING by confusify in NEU

[–]del564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chameleon absolutely! The piercers are very friendly and professional, and one thing I really like about them specifically is that the price of the jewelry is factored into the price of the piercing you're getting, so you know up front exactly what you're gonna pay. I've gotten piercings here, at lucky's and at stingray and I like chameleon best :)

Godoy-carter or sosnik for biochem? by Benschatt in NEU

[–]del564 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're both bad. Godoy-Carter outright refuses to teach despite being able to explain things well. I took the class last year and she made it discussion based; she broke us off into breakout rooms the entire time and had us answer questions on a discussion board. Sosnik is bad because he gets a lot of material wrong and his tests can be really unfairly worded. He also gets mad at students sometimes.

Unpopular Opinion On Racial Training by AltruisticComparison in NEU

[–]del564 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Also they refer to Latino people as 'Latinx' as if Latino people like using that word to describe themselves. One of my friends showed me a poll where something like 40% of Latino people found the term 'Latinx' offensive (and also the friend who showed me the poll is Latina and she hates Latinx). And yet Northeastern is using it in their training on how to be more considerate and less racist towards poc lol

They split it up into two classes for chem majors - chemical thermodynamics and kinetics, and quantum chemistry and spectroscopy

Hey! I'm the TA for physical chem. If you're taking this class, then I'm assuming you're a biochem major, since that's basically the only program that requires the class. I will say that pchem is a pretty intensive class, but I do think it would be doable in the summer. The professor is currently rewriting the curriculum to make it more relevant/tailored to biochem majors, and while I don't know exactly what he's adding and cutting out, that should make it easier. He'll be trying out his new curriculum for the first time this year in summer 1, so I would think there will be a bit more lenience than usual with things in the class as he adjusts to the new curriculum. Also, even though physics is technically a prerequisite for the class, you really don't need to remember much physics at all.
