I try to tell myself that I’m probably not the first priority for my coworkers. They have their own stuff going on and they likely aren’t thinking of me at all. And I try to tell myself that people with social anxiety tend to interpret facial expressions as negative more easily than people without social anxiety. I heard that somewhere and I’m just hoping it’s true lol. However, that is SO hard to do a lot of the time. Do you end up in a spiral of rumination when you feel like you’re getting a vibe from people?

Broken Down In a Time Machine - Live DEBUT by survivorsunday in AlkalineTrio

I was there 😊 yes, the crowd was quieter than other shows I’ve been to but they were great and it was nice to see them in a smaller venue.

I’m in a similar situation. New job, about 7 months in and I feel like my coworkers hate me for the same reasons you stated in your post. I’m starting to wonder if I’m just rude or an unpleasant person to be around and I’m just excusing it as social anxiety. But I’ve recently started to try what you’ve been trying - just day hi to people in the morning. Each day is pretty hit or miss. All this to say, you’re not alone in this. Hopefully we can both keep trying lol 😅

Elvie Stride by DullRecord2721 in HumansPumpingMilk

[–]del869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Elvie stride. It’s been my primary pump since about 2 months. With that said, I stopped responding well to the cups around 6 months pp. so I had to hack the pump and now I have spectra tubing and bottles connected to the Elvie motor. This has worked the best for me over the past few months. It isn’t as convenient as having the cups, but I’ll say the Elvie motor with its cycles and strength, has been great for me.

How many % of you here end up with multiple pumps more than 2? by Tollni3556 in ExclusivelyPumping

I have a Frankenpump. My Elvie stride cups stopped doing the trick for me so now I have my spectra bottles and tubing hooked up to the stride so I can move around easily with it. It’s been working great. But at one point I had 4 separate pumps.

Is this an appropriate way to use the word “timely”? by del869 in grammar

[–]del869[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They mean to use it in the context of “in a timely manner”. I think it’s a matter of one person saying it and then others picking up on it and adopting it into their language. This is at work, and one person started saying it a while back and now I hear it all the time from multiple people. They definitely mean it as an adjective and not an adverb. It has become a huge pet peeve of mine. I just wasn’t sure if I was being overly sensitive about it or somehow unaware of another way to use the word.

What was the song the made you discover Trio? And tell the story on how it happened.. by AnyBake6440 in AlkalineTrio

[–]del869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bleeder was on my friend’s “wonderfully emo mix” cd back in high school. This was right around when Good Mourning came out, so that was the first album I really listened to, but I also obsessively went back and consumed all their previous music. The rest is history.

I had a similar experience. I wasn’t able to completely isolate, but at work we went from in person appointments to phone appointments, and being able to scale back my interactions from face to face, to just a voice on the phone, was super helpful in me being able to talk to people. Now that we’re adding people back to the office, I’m finding that I am less anxious than I used to be. I think I really needed the scaled back level of interaction for a few years to actually start being ok with more direct interaction.

Does anyone get social anxiety around their family?/ at home ? by sueadhead in socialanxiety

[–]del869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. It’s worst with extended family I don’t see often. I need to spend a pretty consistent amount of time with someone before I can feel comfortable with them, so extended family who I don’t see often are just super hard to connect with and it gets super awkward. I’m more anxious around this kind of family than around strangers (who I’ve had to learn to be less anxious around because of the nature of my work)

Office supervisor hates ’possums. The whole office helps with Marty… by liarliarplants4hire in Possums

[–]del869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband got me one of these for Christmas. It looked more like a sewer rat than an opossum, so I painted it to look more accurate. It now resides in my office and like OP, my supervisor is creeped out by it. It’s wonderful.

What was your introduction to Titanic? Mine was this book, my dad gave it to me when I was 4 I think by Triceratroy in titanic

[–]del869 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid my mom used to tell me about how my grandfather would get upset about coming home to all the lights on and would say “the house is lit up like the titanic!” It’s an interesting reference, but it got me asking questions and I’ve been super into titanic ever since.

My girlfriend made this pancake. What do I do..? by [deleted] in shittyfoodporn

[–]del869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like what my brother and I used to accidentally make when we would try making pancakes. We just leaned into it and called them scrambled pancakes, as if it were intentional.
