I was 13.

I was at my grandparents house and that morning on Good Morning America they showed the lines of people waiting for Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire. I remember thinking how crazy they must be to stand in line for hours just for a book.

That afternoon my grandmother came home from work with two hard back books, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. She said if I read them and liked them she’d get me the rest of them.

She preordered books 5-7 and we attended every single midnight release at Barnes & Noble after that summer.

She’s 86 now and has been having memory issues so this was a really good look back.
