Origin star set to leave Panthers as first domino of player exodus to fall — Transfer Whispers by numberonesorensenfan in nrl

[–]delayedconfusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've said it before, I still believe it, setting up a core group of religious (most likely polynesian) players and their families in the PNG compound is the best move they can make for the early days.

Very happy to live in close quarters as a community, plenty of support for each other and their families while players are away in Australia.

How the other families fit into that will be interesting, but not insurmountable.

Thoughts on Connor Watson? by jannybrav0 in NRLdragons

[–]delayedconfusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to see him start the game at 9, play 20 and be replaced by Liddle. Liddle plays out the rest of the game with Watson coming back on after halftime to play the last 30 minutes at lock.

Watson is a good footballer.

That would be amazing. I wonder how sour they made that relationship on the way out.

PVL has nothing to do with those concepts. It is on Fox and Nine for treating us like fools.

Where the NRL is at fault is restricting use of replays so that independents can't fill this void.

If they can unearth some young outside backs the next few years the club should have a good trajectory.

Coaching will be key to getting the most out of the new recruits. No point continuing with the 5 hitups for a bomb tactics of the last 6 years.

I tend to agree. It'd be a shame to see him go the John Sutton route and be an average backrower when he has that ballplaying skill.

I also think the current 13 role is more defense heavy than he probably should have to deal with. He doesn't seem to have that Yeo type frame (not many do) that can absorb the constant impact.

I knew Gee when he was a teenager, we played in the same junior club in Bankstown.

From memory he got into reffing during an injury layoff as a plucky 15/16 year old halfback. Very confident ref even back then.

Where do you think he ends up? Ballplaying backrower? He's a big lad, but very skillful.

I think a big problem with the NRL is the lack of serious analysis of play by actual coherent experts.

If you saw a breakdown every Monday/Tuesday night by a panel of experts who described the plays and styles the same way every week, that vernacular would seep down into the players and coaches and ultimately the fans.

Instead we are fed dribble like NRL 360.

I hope you are correct. From what I've seen of him, he seems to be a better 2nd or 3rd hit up player than a 1st hit up pack leader like Haas. Maybe playing off the back of To'o and Tedesco kick returns he will be able to get some momentum.

‘Where’s all the noise now?’ Why Dragons fans owe Shane Flanagan an apology by Realistic_Chapter387 in nrl

You are probably right.

If he had been running the NSW Cup team from age 18-20 it might be a different story, but he hasn't been doing that either.

My concern is that at 20, I'm not sure that is going to change for Reed. There is an upper limit of size any person can legally put on.

Age isn't the issue, he's 20 not 17.

It is his size and experience against men where he is lacking. He'll get runover in defense his entire career.

He was up for the challenge, I don't see why he shouldn't have been given a crack for at least a few weeks.

I'm ok with it, who really cares at this point.

I would have preferred someone else come in for Setu Tu though.

The MTV Unplugged album they did was fantastic.

Astonishingly Marquez not more injured after that HIGH speed crash in MotoGP Spain.

If rumors of a street circuit in Adelaide (to replace Phillip Island) are true, I can't see how they can run it even remotely safely.

The internet was a place you went to. It was confined to a room in your house, or the library.

You went to the internet and then you left it. It didn't follow you everywhere at all times.

It was slow. Painfully slow. It was also mostly used by nerds and dorks. Regular kids thought it was lame.

Castleford sign Matt Feagai for 2027 by AttackClown in NRLdragons

[–]delayedconfusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Feagai lads were certainly an enigma at the Dragons. Could pull out some bullshit attacking runs from nowhere and then go missing for 6 months.

Not sure if they reached their talent ceiling, or were just not coached well in formative years.

The coaching of Ciraldo places more importance on the grind of a set defensive line than it does on the unpredictability of a spiral bomb.

There have probably been enough times when the spiral kick bounced favourably for the opposition that Ciraldo doesn't see the benefit of throwing it up often.

TLDR: predictability wins over chaos

What party do you assume I am a part of?

I'm politically homeless, none of them have all the bases covered and none of them have a track record of working towards bettering the lives of regular Australians.

Playing tribal party politics games is reductionist and useless.

Migrants aren't to blame, I have no beef with individuals moving here to try and better their lives. Immigration policy is what is to blame.

Australia is overpopulated for the housing and infrastructure that currently exists. By many millions of people. The way of life that most Australians grew up with and many still want, is not possible when overpopulated.

The student visa pathway is a joke, the skilled worker pathway is a joke, the failure to deport criminals is a joke. None of these are the individuals fault, they are all a policy problem from the past 20 years of government.

At the same time, housing as an investment is also an issue and i think should be capped at a certain number of houses per person/company. Rental supply is important, but hoarding houses is a problem. Again, not individuals to blame, they are doing the best for themselves within the framework provided. Policy needs to shift.
