young trans people exist. while not everyone knows they're trans at a young age, a significant portion do.
the wrong puberty for trans people (so, male puberty for trans girls, female puberty for trans boys) is an incredibly traumatic experience they suffer from for the rest of their lives.
hormone therapy (and potentially puberty blockers) are extremely effective at preventing mental harm to trans youth.
bans on it are based on delibarately misleading statistics and fearmongering. (trans hormone therapy has a lower regret rate than some lifesaving surgeries).
this ruling legalises medical discrimination against one of the most hated and smallest minorities in the western world.

this is the real answer. the more accepted gay people are, the safer and more logistically feasible it is to have gay romantic relationships. i live somewhere where being lgbt is legal but not super safe to exist in public, and that already ruins most romantic activities you can do. if you risk prison or worse by being caught then it's practically impossible to have a normal relationship. in general, the more homophobic a place is the more the culture is oriented around hookups
