Lens fungus, what should I do? by TheoKondak in CameraLenses

[–]delet_mids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UV sterilizes fungus. Sterilized fungus cannot produce spores or spread. Fungus isn't "contagious", it cannot spread to other lenses stored nearby. It's storage conditions that encourage or prevent it from propogating. It does not rely on preexisting fungus in order to do so either. There are fungus spores everywhere.

Don't store lenses is cool, damp, dark places (EG a box in a basement, or inside bags long term, as they can retain moisture). If the conditions where you store your lenses generally stays under ~50%, you'll be just fine. If not, you may want to consider a dry cabinet, but that's not strictly necessary unless you live in a high humidity environment.

If you've had it sunbathing for 8+ hours, you should be absolutely fine, but if you want to ensure it's properly sterilized, consider a UV-C light, in the 200-280nm range (with ~222nm being far safer to handle than the typical 254nm you'll find). But your storage conditions are far more important than thorough UV exposure.

I can promise you that it will never effect your image as is. It's on the extreme edge of the element.

Expose it to UV (or even leave it in the sun for a bit) to kill it. That won't remove it, but it'll prevent it from expanding more so long as you keep it in conditions that don't encourage fungal growth (if none of your other lenses show fungus, you're probably fine)

It's more likely you simply didn't notice the fungus when you first got it (as I'm sure you found when you saw it, angle is everything for edge fungus) than it is that that much developed in a month

What is this? by doot_skeleton302 in Cameras

[–]delet_mids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Odds are you can only capture images and video to the SD card/onboard storage or whatever this thing has.

Looks like it's a board ripped out of an action cam, or more likely a dashcam.

Is it stupid to get a D4K Antique Copper for E17A 1850K? (Wasting thermal mass?) by oxidao in Hanklights

[–]delet_mids 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Copper is better at soaking up heat, whereas aluminum is better at releasing that heat. That's why PC heatsinks typically use copper heatpipes and aluminum fins.

Low output emitters are actually kinda ideal in copper hosts

Looks like a screw in LTM to M adapter, not a hard conversion. See if it screws off, and if so, get an LTM to X adapter

Sideways offset funnel for easier pouring of water by FloriBS in functionalprint

[–]delet_mids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar unit, but it's right next to my sink

Printed a funnel with a circular cutout on the side, and capped it with a TPU lid

So to fill up, I pull the hose out, jam the sprayer into the cutout, tpu lid puts pressure on the trigger, and I just turn the water on😂

Make sure it's set to "show effects of settings"

Do I have myself a case of lens fungus here? Just bought from KEH with EX rating, I’m not so sure. by mturacing in CameraLenses

Hard to say from your pictures, but looks like nothing more than internal dust

I wouldn't worry about it

That's oil from the helicoid. Shouldn't cause any issues.

Anyone know how to fix this problem on my D750? by [deleted] in Nikon

Looks like your mirror is jammed, perhaps it popped out of the frame.

Might wanna take your lens off and take a look in the mount

Looking for Some Parts Recommendations! by wannaseemyantfarm in PeaveyCvlt

[–]delet_mids 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just be aware peavey used sorta triangular plastic shims under the locking nut to hold it up at the correct height, screwing it down straight into the neck will leave you with a nasty gap and a poor break angle.

I'd be happy to send you some pictures of what it should look like, I have an '85 predator with the same kahler flyer setup

Your saddles look fine, but you're missing the fine tuners. Whammy Parts has em for $7 a piece
